ALL SURFACES ARE TREATED WITH ANTI-BACTERIAL CLEANSER. New EU/UK consumer protection laws require that an advisory note is added to listings to inform users that bookings may not be covered by national consumer protection laws. At just four miles from Southport town center with easy access by bus, train and car this is an ideal base for a family or couples to enjoy a coastal holiday with easy access to Liverpool, Chester, Manchester, Blackpool and the ribble Valley. Located in the village of Ainsdale, a semi rural suburb of Southport, this cosy mid terraced cottage provides comfortable holiday accommodation, ideal for families and couples who want to explore all that the north west of England has to offer, both coast and country. Ainsdale village has several pubs, restaurants, shops and takeaways which are all within half a mile of the cottage. It also has a leisure center and village green. The village has a strong sense of community with the local community center offering meals and activities for older people at very reasonable prices, and Ainsdale Horticultural Society holds a village show on the village green every year at the start of July. Ainsdale also has a fabulous beach, which is said to have some of the most breath-taking sunsets and cloudscapes in the whole country. A great base for walkers and nature lovers, the Sefton Coastal Path and the Trans Pennine Trail both pass through Ainsdale. A number of waymarked nature trails are also accessible from the village. These trails allow access to the Ainsdale Sand Dunes, designated as one of England’s National Nature Reserves. The dunes are home to over 450 plant species as well as the rare natterjack toad, Europe’s loudest amphibian. Red squirrels can occasionally be seen amongst the reserve’s pine forests too, while sand lizards, great-crested newts and a fantastic variety of orchids and other wildflowers can also be found here. The reserve has a network of around 8 miles of marked footpaths including the Woodland Path and Fisherman’s Path which are both accessible by bike, pushchairs and wheelchairs. An award winning pub and restaurant can be accessed via the paths, walking 3 3/4 miles, 1 hour and 14 minutes (approximately) from Ainsdale railway station with limited on street parking in the vicinity of pine woods. There are several golf clubs nearby including Royal Birkdale, Hillside, Southport and Ainsdale, and Formby Hall. The Victorian seaside town of Southport is just 15 minutes away by car, and apart from its beach, fairground and water park also offers a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants. It is well known for local, national and international artists featuring in performances and shows at the refurbished Art Center, Floral Hall or other locations within the town. Blackpool with its many attractions and landmarks is just 35 miles away by car. Other places on the coast worth visiting include the cosmopolitan resort of Lytham St Annes and Crosby beach. Liverpool can be reached in approximately half an hour by car and Chester, Manchester and Preston are all under an hour’s drive. The Lake District and Lancashire’s beautiful Ribble Valley can be reached in approximately 90 minutes. For those who want a break from driving, the cottage has excellent links to public transport. There is a bus stop on the main road with services into Southport, Preston and Liverpool. Ainsdale railway station provides links into Liverpool, Chester, Manchester and Preston. Beach 1/2 mile. Shop 400 yards, pubs and restaurants 1/2 mile. Step to entrance. Ground floor: Living room with laminate floor. Kitchen/conservatory/ dining area with tiled floor. Had a wonderful 4 nights here. So close to Ainsdale beach which is wonderful. We ate out all the time except for the first night. Plenty of cutlery and pots and pans. Everything you needed. Table for 6 in the sunroom. Plus tv's in every room. Chris the host let us in a little earlier... He was great and friendly. You can park right outside the property. The Chinese...Jade Garden is a 3 minute walk and the food is gorgeous.

Your review is a work of fiction and I wonder what your motive is. You said nothing during your stay and leaving a review like this when all others are good just makes you seem foolish.

Previous claims are false and must be an attempt to get a refund. The toilet was obviously cleaned, in the north of England limescale doesn't form on kettles as the water is soft, the semi rural environment has spiders which will spin new webs when one is destroyed. The mold referred to is in fact lichen which grows in damp conditions as found in the north. For claims to be made not in keeping with other reviews just makes a person look foolish.

Thanks for your review. When hosting people it is inevitable that the odd person will find something they are not happy with but it is good of you to express your opinion in my favour.. As we approach the end of lockdown I would welcome the opportunity to have you stay again.

We booked this cottage as an affordable base to stay to visit friends in Southport. So pleased we did. On arrival we were greeted by the lovely Phil who showed us around and had provided a welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, bread butter, jam and eggs. \As well as providing plenty of towels, washing up liquid nd dishwasher tablets. The cottage is a wonderful place to stay if you are looking for a home from home especially fo those with families (we took 3 children aged 1, 5 and 8) . Whilst some comments state it is a little dated we felt this added to the quirks of the cottage and my husband was delighted to be able to show our children some cassette tapes we found!! It also enable us to relax a little more as we werent panicking about the children breaking an expensive item of furniture. The cottage has a very well stocked kitchen, including a slow cooker, food processor, blender and a full size fridge and freezer which is great when self catering. The children also enjoyed the variety of games in the cottage and the lego sets in their bedroom. All in all a great base for a family break within driving distance of everything we needed. Wouldnt hesitate to book there again.

.Phil has thought of everything It may not be the most modern of homes but it is cosy and has everything you need. The kitchen has plenty of crockery, cutlery, pots and pans and gadgets including a washing machine and dishwasher. Phil provided a little bottle of milk,a loaf of bread and a tub of spread, jam, teabags and some coffee. There are toys, books, DVDs,videos and the machines to play them. There is a TV in every room. The dining room/conservatory was a suntrap even on a freezing February weekend.Parking is on the street. We always got a space right outside the house. It is on a very quiet little road.

Tudor Cottage is set in a relatively quiet area, on a 'no through road' (apart from the farm track at the end - the road is set nicely alongside fields). It is within easy reach of public transport, village shops and of course Southport beyond (less than 15m by car). Highlights include a sunny dining room / conservatory at the back, with a TV, toy box, some magazines and leaflets and a barn door which leads onto a nice little back garden. There is also a comfortable sitting room at the front with a wide and interesting selection of books, along with a TV and DVD player (and various DVDs). The kitchen is nice and practical, with instruction manuals available for all the appliances. I think the only thing we missed was a cafetiere / coffee maker, but that's a minor quibble in an otherwise very well-equipped kitchen. Things worth being aware of: the stairs are a little steep so may be tricky if you have limited mobility (or very small children). Some of the equipment is not exactly modern but presumably that helps to keep the rental price affordable. Likewise, the house has single glazing; not a great problem in terms of warmth as there is central heating and it's mid-terrace, but obviously you don't get the sound insulation benefit of double-glazing. I was disturbed one night by the neighbour's car coming and going but then I'm a particularly light sleeper, and as mentioned before it is a generally quiet area. Some of the houses on the street don't have driveways (including this one), but parking on the road is easy enough - we managed to park right outside for the most part. Aside from the house itself, it's important to know who you are dealing with for an enjoyable and stress-free break, and I'm pleased to say we found the owner, Phil, to be very friendly and obliging. He showed us all around the house, and was also happy to advise on matters such as shopping and getting around the area. So the bottom line is… if you demand holiday accommodation where everything is new, shiny and plush, then you may wish to look elsewhere (and in a different price bracket!), but if you’re after a homely, no-nonsense, comfortable house with everything you need for self-catering, then Tudor Cottage is well worth considering and I've no doubt Phil will do his best to ensure you have an enjoyable stay.

Thanks for your detailed and comprehensive review. There is some double glazing in the conservatory and the area in general is usually very quiet. The televisions are CRT type but most other appliances are quite new. There is now a cafetiere.

About the neighbourhood
Ainsdale village offers a mix of independent retailers plus a number of bars and restaurants.
