Holiday Rental House
Built in 1922, this home had large woodwork and hardwood floors. I have a pleasant single room available on the first floor adjacent to a bathroom. The owner's suite is upstairs so there is lots of privacy. The living room includes a huge television and comfortable furniture. I have one cat who is quite friendly but stays mostly upstairs. Off street parking. It is close to downtown, bus stops and freeway. I'm in the heart of The Ingersoll District which has many restaurants, stores and coffee shops within walking distance. The owner's bedroom is on the second floor. The guest has access to the entire first floor, including kitchen, deck and front porch (with porch swing). My interaction with guests varies, but since my architectural office is at home, I am almost always available. I enjoy ...Built in 1922, this home had large woodwork and hardwood floors. I enjoy interacting with guests because I have made many long lasting friends through Hosting. The 'Ingersoll District' is the new hot place to be in Des Moines. It is a walking area with several good restaurants just a stroll away. There are coffee shops, art galleries and even a resale shop. Our Art Center is several blocks away and is nationally recognized both for the art and the architecture. The city bus stops right at the street corner. Taxis are available and so is Uber. My area is great for walking. House Rules I keep the house neat and clean. I am not a maid so I expect my guests to pick up after themselves. That's only fair.More

About the neighbourhood
The Ingersoll District is close to downtown and is the charming area before the suburbs. It is now a highly desirable area since it is oriented to walking and bicycling. There are many varied restaurants and coffee shops along the main street, as well as commerce such as banks, grocery and drug stores. Our nationally known Art Center is within walking disitance, right next to Greenwood park and public swimming pool. The Governor's Mansion is in this neighborhood and is open for tours on certain days. Des Moines University, a well known and well established Osteopathic college.
How to get there
Bus stop is right at the corner.
