Converted Barn, full of fun folk art, close to Lafayette on private plantation. This repurposed, reconstructed horse barn sits on the back side of a 5 acre turn-of-the-century plantation - Stonewood Plantation. The design and decor of the barn have one thing in mind - FUN. The barn is a complete 2 bedroom living space with a fully equipped kitchen, 1 and 1/2 baths, and utility room with washer and dryer. And it has a large livingroom/library with a 12 foot high wall of vintage paned windows, outside of which is a very large covered porch with comfortable chairs so you can enjoy the envirnons in any season.

My husband and kids were surprised at first as the barn doesn't look great from the outside but the inside is very cosy with a unique feel. We really enjoyed the living room with its high ceiling and lots of windows. The space was confortable....More

The countryside we live in is highly populated by artists and we love that we have many artists as neighbors. We have artists come up from New Orleans to get away and experience rural Acadiana and its inspiring creative energy. Also, a big plus - The Whirlybird - a 'premiere underground' honky tonk - is just across the Folk Art Barn patio. Described in the June 2011 Issue of Southern Living Magazine by Valerie Luesse, 'Jim decided he didn't have the right gathering space for his circle of music-loving friends, so he bought an old Texaco distribution center & moved it to a secret location.' The Folk Art Barn is just one of 3 very old buildings that have been repurposed for cultural and educational activities.

From I-10 Lafayette, take Highway I-49 North to Exit 11 (Grand Coteau-Sunset) - get off, turn Left at stop onto Highway 93 - in a short distance it T's into Highway 182, Turn Right, go through the Town of Sunset staying on Hwy 182 - approx 3 miles on other side of town you will pass an old flea market barn on the right at the intersection of Hwy 178 - in 1 more mile on the RIGHT you will see Stonewood (#4072 on mailbox) big White House set way back w/ 4 tall columns and with a big lighted star on the balcony - driveway is right after mailbox - (mile marker 144 and Stonewood sign is in front of the house if you missed the driveway)
