For rainy days we have cupboards of board games, jigsaws and toys. The flat is up one flight of stairs and is child-friendly. (Cot, high chair and playpen available on request). Your dog is welcome too! We occupy the entire second floor of a much photographed building, originally built in 1674, it is a grade B listed building in a conservation area. A traditional, real-ale pub serving sensibly priced pub grub is on the ground floor, 'The Ferry Tap' has a really friendly atmosphere and even welcomes children and dogs. We are delighted to greet our guests when they arrive and to introduce them to the apartment. We speak French and German (as well as English!). We can provide a welcome pack and tips on things to see and do in the area. We do not live on the premises, but are only 15 minutes away. Queensferry is a very pretty, historic town in its own right with numerous restaurants, bars and two supermarkets. There are scenic walks in the woods or along the sea-shore from our doorstep. The town has a small museum and is the start point for boat trips out to the islands of the Firth of Forth to watch wildlife, including large seasonal puffin colonies. Of course, it is also the best place to see the world famous bridges. Easy access both to Edinburgh and to the rest of Scotland - you can be amidst the Lochs and glens within 40 minutes drive. We opened for business in May 2014. The flat is newly furnished and ready to welcome you, so why not take a chance, you'll not regret holidaying in Queensferry! More

Interaction with guestsI am able to greet most of my guests and enjoy showing them the flat and answering any questions about the locality and tourism in the Central belt of Scotland and beyond. I do have a key-safe for the occasions when a personal welcome is not possible; for instance When I am working as a teacher or simply stuck in traffic. I always do try to make a personal appearance at some point and am always accessible via email or mobile phone.

Crawsteps was a great remote accommodation for a family visit to Edinburgh. After a minor glitch checking in at 10:00 pm, Carole responded immediately and met us at the apartment to provide access. The waterfront at South Queensferry is picturesque. Parking on-site is limited, but it was easy to load and unload at the apartment. Parking was safe and free a couple blocks away and presented no challenge. The apartment itself has everything one could need for a short or extended stay. Carole even had iPhone chargers and electrical adapters available for use.

We booked a 5 night stay at Crawsteps in October. The Apartment is lovely with nice views to all aspects but especially of the Forth bridges. It is clean, bright, spacious and a bit quirky. There is a wood burner but it was too warm so we didn’t use it. If you like a place with character this is perfect. The owner has provided everything to make it homely and COVID safe. We were a bit worried about there being no parking but we were able to unload behind the property and found free parking within walking distance. South Queensferry has a quaint old town and harbour. It’s a lovely place to be based and has easy access to all areas of Scotland. We loved our stay here and will definitely come again. Our top days out included; A road trip through the Trossachs National park. A coastal trip to the East to include Anstruther and St Andrews. We went on a Sunday and there were bagpipers playing on the harbour wall at Pittenweem. Not sure if we were just lucky or if this is a Sunday thing. It was very moving to listen to the sound of the pipes and watch the movement of the sea. ( The fish and chips at Anstruther were the best.) A boat trip on Loch Lomond. A visit to Falkland Palace. A visit to a Castle. Edinburgh and Stirling are both great. A day in Edinburgh and, if you can get seats, a show at the Playhouse. We saw Beauty and the Beast - it was excellent. A visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia. Whisky tasting at any of the distilleries. Our favourite was Glenturret. A walk across the original Forth Road Bridge. Halfway across there is an area where people attach locks commemorating dates and loved ones. We didn’t know about this but it is a lovely idea. There was so much more to do but just not enough time.

A little gem in South Queensferry. Five of us travelled up from Kent and Essex for a birthday celebration in The Boat House. It is everything you could ask for in a self catering apartment. Well located, Spacious, clean , tidy and value for money. Near bus routes into Edinburgh. Owners contactable and extremely helpful. I would recommend that you try it you will not be disappointed.

The flat was stunning and the location was outstanding. It was a great space to explore from and easy for access to Edinburgh. We had a brilliant time and would definitely go back.

My sister, brother-in-law and I were visiting Queensferry for my niece's (their daughter's) wedding, which was in nearby Dundas Castle, so the flat was in an ideal location for us. It was in the town centre, so everything was within walking distance, 5 minutes drive/20 minutes walk (roughly) from the castle, and 10 minutes from the nearest train station. The flat itself was extremely well equipped with dish washer, washing machine, microwave oven, gas range/oven, 'fridge/freezer in the 'kitchen electrics' range, as well as a hair dryer in one of the bedrooms. Even the kitchen knives were sharp - something all too rare in my many years experience of holiday rentals! Most of our time was spent with family, but my sister and I took a lovely boat trip on The Maid of Forth which ran a few times each day a short walk down the road from the flat. We were disappointed not to be able to do the 3-hour journey which would have allowed us to disembark from the boat to explore the Incholme Abbey as it was fully booked when we looked online (the day before we went) to see what trips were available, but our 90 minute trip was very pleasant nonetheless, and the commentary from the skipper was very interesting. He certainly knew his history of the area! The only drawbacks about the flat were the stairs up to it (quite a few, but that is mentioned in the description anyway) and the one allocated parking bay was often occupied by someone else. Fortunately there were usually empty bays a few yards around the corner, which was a minor inconvenience. All in all, definitely a place I would stay in if I visited the area again.

Spacious accommodation that suited our party of three generations, four adults and two young children, very well. The transport into the centre of Edinburgh was easily accessible and reasonably priced. We were able to abandon the car for the weekend! Bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. Not as expensive as the centre of Edinburgh and with a charm of its own!

I stayed here for a long weekend with some friends and family and we weren’t disappointed. The apartment is huge and even with seven of us staying we had plenty of room. Carole was great from start to finish, and made us feel very welcome on our arrival. The accommodation was very clean and everything you could need was supplied, from ample amounts of bedding and towels, to kitchen utensils and crockery. The views were also amazing! I would highly recommend this apartment - we were disappointed to leave and would definitely return.

Crawsteps has to be completely unique. It is in a very old building above a pub. Large sash windows overlooking the most incredible views of the Firth of Forth. It is like being dropped back centuries. You are in the middle of this really charming small town with so many great places to eat. However, the flat is fully up to date with everything you could need. The kitchen /dining room is very spacious and the kitchen window overlooks a 16th(?) century building. What a washing up view! The dining room window looks over a walled lane that is so pretty. The train station (Dalmeny) to Edinburgh is a very pleasant 10 min walk away. Every one we met was so friendly and kind. And the beds, they were so comfortable. It was super clean and Carole gave us a super welcome.

How to get there
Off street parking is possible by taking Hawthorn Bank; a small road opposite Scotmid supermarket. Here you will find non-reservable, free parking for about 25 cars. To access the flat continue along this road and turn left into the Vennel. We are the tall white building at the end. The entrance stair has the name Forth Court above it and we are the middle buzzer. If arriving by train your end Station is Dalmeny, then you have a pleasant 10 minute stroll down to the High Street. The 43 bus from the city centre will drop you off a 3 minute walk away.
