The Cottage was built in the 1920s and recently renovated. At the end of a long driveway on the back of an old estate, it is very private and yet within 10 minutes walk of Singing Beach and less than a mile from the town of Manchester. So there is easy access to shops, restaurants, and even downtown Boston, but once in the Cottage, you can feel miles away and between Singing Beach as well as having access to a private beach on Smith's Point, days can go by without getting in a car. The best of both worlds!

I live next door but travel some so depending on your timing I may be around or I may be away. We've got things set up so that you can be entirely independent of me. And we've tried to be as self-explanatory as possible. And we assume that you've got a plan of what you want to do while you are here. That said, the atmosphere is very friendly, warm, and open. And I am happy to be of help in any way I can.
Guests are very welcome. And having friends over is great. Children are delightful. So is quiet after 10:30 pm and before 8:30 am. If you think you'll have trouble with this, we...

About the neighbourhood
We are easy walking into the town of Manchester for shopping, restaurants, the train to Boston. We are also easy walking to three beaches, Singing Beach famous of its great surf and 'singing' sand, a town beach, and also a private beach which is ideal for little kids, having a long tide and minimal surf. A short drive will bring you to golf, riding, various kayaking. Biking in the area. And the Manchester Harbor is well known to sailors. Also lots of fun things full of New England flavor. Salem is nearby. Many old farms, historic buildings, organic farms, farmer's markets, etc. I have a booklet with all this info available for you.
Manchester is a stop on the Rockport Line of the MBTA connecting to Boston. It is also an exit on route 128 so very convenient to Boston or trips to other parts of New England. Our place is a 5-10 minute walk into town. A car is not needed, probably recommended, not necessary. It depends on whether you want to use us as a base and explore. Or if you want to arrive, unpack and spend your days on the beach. You decide.
How to get there
Airport: Logan Airport: 20.0 km
Railway: Manchester: 1.0 km
Boston's Logan Airport is about 45 minutes away. We are about a 5-10 drive from exit 15 off of 128. And the MBTA has a stop in Manchester about a 10 minute walk from us. Getting into Boston is very easy. But because of being at the end of a long driveway, there is an 'away from it all' feeling once you are here. Really nice having convenience but also privacy.
