Very clean and cosy.
Wonderful time, everything pleasant well equipped. Ideas; washing machine detergent for that one needed wash, as well as washing up liquid would have been nice. Took us a few moments to find the entrance, we did not know we had to go around the back. Using the toilet can be tricky as it leads on to the bedroom. Shower a bit week, bathroom altogether basic, but value for money, we were happy to pay less, even if it meant less luxury.

Cosy cottage
We've just had 3 nights at this cosy cottage in Greenfield near Oldham - perfectly adequate for 2 of us and a dog and well priced too. Yes, it's basic and the facilities and furnishings are a little old fashioned but this is an area you come to to be outdoors walking not staying in. A few basics provided on arrival (coffee, tea, biscuits, and a can of g&t!) and one of the owners called just after our arrival with milk and some extra loo rolls (was also helpful in sorting out our problem with the wifi.) There's a convenience store just a 2 minute walk away and a large Tesco at the other end of the village. 2 pubs with 5 minutes walking distance and a takeaway not much further. Just up the road towards Holmefirth (of Last of the Summer Wine fame) is Dovestones reservoir with an easy hour walk around it and another reservoir further up the valley. This is the edge of Saddleworth Moor so there is limitless choice for walking routes. Very happy with our stay and would certainly return for a short break.

A let down
My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights recently. Good: Location in Greenfield was good. Easy access to bus. (Can get to Manchester centre directly in a round an hour). Quiet semi rural location. Quiet well established private back garden with sunshine. (when available). Living room at rear of property facing garden, fields, horses and hills. Some local shops, pubs and eateries on your doorstep. Fair: Train at other end of village. (Not direct or as convenient as the bus for trips in to Manchester) Not a great selection of Shops, pubs and eateries. Large living/dining/kitchen area. Parking space in front of property adequate but right on road. Poor: Converted property from larger house. Some strange choices in the design. Having to walk through the bathroom to get to main bedroom being the strangest. Property badly needing attention cracked tiles etc. Very tired and needing decorated. Patchwork quilt of touch up paint jobs. Very old and tired furniture. Second bedroom has no window, only just enough room in here for bunk beds and cupboard. Very little room to move. Cleaning standards very poor around the whole property. No welcome pack. No contact from landlord to ask if we had arrived, everything OK etc or welcome. Just key left in keysafe. Worst rental I've stayed at. Has a lot of potential though with some work and care.

Well placed, cosy cottage
Nice little garden with lots of greenery surrounding it and the sound of horses on the other side of the fence. Some quirky features inside (the small bedroom has no window, but over all functional and cosy. Great living room and kitchen solution. Well placed with of licence some doors up the Street and great access to the wonderful outdoors of the peaks. We had a great Week and would recommend the cottage for family or couples. The dogs loved it. Clean and well lighted with ample warming and kitchen space for cooking. Wifi and TV worked great and no problem with parking. Tesco and pubs down the street and short drives to Manchester and the walks and sightseeing in the Peak district.

Cosy pet friendly cottage.
Great location for walking Dovestone Resevoir and surrounding moors and close enough to take a trip to Manchester & Liverpool. Canal walks and countryside centre at Uppermill only a couple of miles away. Cottage well equipped with lovely little outdoor space.

Cleanliness disappointing.
It seemed cosy on arrival with music playing and lamps on also wine and chocolates were a nice touch. Unfortunately the cottage seemed infested with small moths. In the bedrooms they seemed to appear constantly no matter how many you killed. It is very unnerving having to check your bed before getting in. The toilet flush was temperamental, luckily my granddaughter had the nack of getting it to work. She was very disappointed that the wi fi didn't work. Our hopes were raised when an engineer arrived but he was unable to do anything. If the cottage had been thoroughly cleaned, especially the cobwebs with dead insects, it would have been an ideal place to stay and explore the surrounding area.

As I asked this guest several times during her stay if all was ok and was told " yes wonderful " I am a little bemused by this review especially next to the previous 4 star reviews. However I will take the positives and address the negatives Positives It seemed cosy on arrival with music playing and lamps on also wine and chocolates were a nice touch.......Good then An ideal place to stay and explore the surrounding area......Good then This guest stayed on a very hot week and any insects would have come in from the garden door or open windows. There is insect spray in the cupboard to address this possibility or maybe keep the widow shut? The toilet seems to have worked fine for the younger member of the party but has since been replaced to make it simple for all ages. Lastly I am afraid this guest did not grasp the wi fi situation at all The engineer she mentions fitted Super fast broad band during her stay but obviously they did not log on with the new details he provided Indeed it is very disappointing to give a 2 star review as these problems were of the guests own making and could have been simply rectified with a phone call.

Lovely Cottage
Just got back from a lovely overnight stay at the cottage. It was homely and very welcoming on arrival. The cottage had some lovely features and characteristics and was in a nice location with good views around and a nice garden area. The facilities in the cottage were excellent and everything was clean and very well presented. There are little shops and walks in the area and had a supermarket and choices of places to eat nearby. We visited Manchester on our visit and thought it was a brilliant location for wanting to stay in a pleasant location with not too long a journey in to the city.

Serenity
I booked the Saddleworth Valley Cottage for a long weekend last month. Zero complaints. The cottage was well kept and provided every amenity needed at a great bargain. I'll definitely book again when back in the area.

Valley Cottage
Valley Cottage is a comfortable, flexible and quirky property. It is well equipped for short breaks and offers a good base for exploring the area. Although part of a block of terraced back-to-back stone-built cottages, it has the advantage of a small pretty garden with views of a paddock at the side and rear. The entrance to the cottage is the furthest one at the back of the row of cottages. The location of the cottage gives the feeling of space and privacy with a green and open outlook at the rear. There is space at the side of the row of cottages to unload and an allocated parking space at the front, however we tended to park on nearby roads where there is lots of space and we found this more convenient. The large open-plan lounge/diner/kitchen is very comfortable and well-equipped with TV, electric cooker, microwave, toaster, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble-dryer. The upstairs layout is a little unusual as access to the main bedroom is through the bathroom. As a couple we have never found this to be a problem. The cottage a warm, cosy, convenient and lovely base to stay in when visiting Saddleworth.
