I enjoyed my stay; the location was perfect for me, a 15-minute walk to the train station and very close to the people I visited. Several shops are nearby, including a Tesco, and it's an easy walk along the canal into Uppermill or the Dovestone Reservoir. The place is well-equipped, clean, and quiet. My stay would have been improved if the mattress had been a little firmer.

Cosy, warm & comfortable cottage.
Nicely furnished downstairs.
Enjoyed the views & location.
Food in pub 5 minute walk was good.
Only negative was lack of off road parking, there was a very small space on busy road.
Up to date information on local places to visit would be nice, & instructions on how things worked. Good value for money.

Bring Earplugs
Please be aware that this cottage has neighbours to the side of you and above/behind you. The noise from the latter was unbearable for my entire week stay. I don't know if these people are auditioning for the adult film industry but the constant sex noises was really tiresome, I'm glad I didn't have children with me. They also like to party at night until the small hours.
The bedroom in the cottage is in prime position to pick up EVERY sound. Me and my partner had to keep the TV on high volume to try and block out the constant noise. For the last two nights we had to sleep on the pull out couch (very uncomfortable) as the sound from the house above was so intolerable.
By the time we left the cottage we was absolutely exhausted and couldn't wait to get out of there. It felt like being at an 18-30 flop house rather than the peaceful cottage advertised.
Staying here completely ruined our trip.

Great stay
Had a lovely chilled out week at chew cottage.....great hosts too! Will definitely be back.

Disappointing
Downstairs satisfactory but odd smell. Parking only suitable for motorcycle. No daylight in single bedroom with bunk bed. Bathroom substandard. Smallest sink ever seen. No pressure in shower. Either scalding or freezing. Toilet no leg room. Booked for two nights but moved out after one

Cute cottage in friendly village
Pros
• Good location and easy access for fell walking.
• Safe enclosed gated garden for dogs (assuming won’t jump over 4’ high stone wall)
• Gas-glow fire in living room.
• Good internet Wi-Fi.
• Good local amenities e.g. pubs, pharmacy, Tesco super store, buses.
Cons
• Access to main bedroom is via the only bathroom. This is probably OK for a couple with 2 small children but could be problematic with teenagers and/or non-family guests.
• Box room with two bunk beds has no direct exterior window or ventilation.
• Parking space used by others. Had to park across the road.
• Location and access instructions inadequate. Google maps gives wrong location on main road.

Chew cottage,
Generally ok, but no instructions on how to start WiFi or tv, quite noisy with other residents all around, no parking, had to park over the road in the street,
