Just back from a fabulous stay at this beautiful gite complex .The hosts Wendy and Steve were excellent.Nothing was too much trouble. They even invited us for Sunday lunch!
The place is very peaceful yet within an hour from Bordeaux.Excellant and varied accomodation with character and style.
The weather did not disappoint in October either. We spent quite a lot of time around and within the beautiful new pool. They even lent us some bikes to try the adjacent cycle paths with scenic views.
The place has a backdrop of forest and surrounded by vineyards. Many quaint local villages and towns to visit. It is also a short walk to the local town with excellent boulangerie ,local restaurants and cafes.
Hopefully we will return soon!❤️

We had the pleasure of renting Wendy and Steve's Gite in Baignes / Touverac for two weeks this summer. We had a very peaceful and relaxing time indeed.
Wendy and Steve are very relaxed and welcoming - thank you! Any query we had was dealt with immediately and without fuss. All we needed was a relaxing couple of weeks with the odd day trip out and this is exactly what we got.
The location is convenient for the motorway between Angouleme and Bordeaux, each being about 40 mins - an hour away. The gite is right on the edge of a small town which was very convenient for boulangerie every morning. a supermarket, banks and a terrific little bar cafe de Paris.
Fabulous safe walks around along the green way on the old railway line are to be recommended. Wendy even lent us bikes!
Day trips we can recommend are to Blaye (citadella really to be recommended), Bordeaux, Angouleme (you have to visit the Brocante in La Couronne, it is quite an experience. We also took a trek to St Emilion.
The gite was very clean, well equipped and comfortable with FreeSat UK TV, DVD, Washing machine, a couple of fans to cool us down, a log burning fire (we didn't need it but you would in winter). WiFi is available but only at the main house though so watch out for that if you are data fiends!
Pool is unheated but once you're attuned to it then it's fine for a quick dip but you wouldn't be doing lengths!
Weather overall was fine, usually mid to high 20's - breezy, sometimes slightly damp (often at night - saw some super thunderstorms), but never a problem. If you like sun sun sun 24x7 not sure this is for you as it can be quite cloudy, but we do like it like that.
Overall a lovely break and we hope to come back again next year

This was our fifth visit to Gites de Garbellant, we have always stayed in the stables gite before which is a fantastic gite. This year we stayed in field view, also a fantastic gite. All the gites have a private undercover terrace but field view also has a private side terrace which overlooks the field a lovely view. Lovely to eat breakfast on the terrace in the fresh morning air with a beautiful view. The gites are well equipped and if you need anything Wendy and Steve are on hand to help. There is so much to visit in the area, the beautiful lakes in walking distance, Bordeaux is only 40 minutes drive and there is easy access via a park and ride. Jonzac and Pons are also within easy reach. The coast, Saint-Georges-de-Didonne is an hours drive, Talmont is also a beautiful place to visit. You can also do cognac tasting, a windmill visit and lots more. I highly recommend these gites you will not be disappointed.

We found this property had all we needed for a house hunting trip to SW France. It was great to be able to walk into Baignes to visit the Boulangerie, bars and other shops and there was always plenty to do. My wife borrowed a bike and enjoyed cycling along many of the cycle paths in the area. The property was in great condition and our hosts, Wendy and Steve were extremely helpful, even dropping off occasional home grown vegetables.
Overall a great place to stay.

This beautiful manor house and gite complex ticks every box. It's located in 10 acres of countryside gardens and houses chickens, ponies and two lovely dogs which only interact if you chose to seek them out. The setting and facilities, such as the swings, slide, pool and animals are terrific for kids and adults alike but there is enough grounds to find an isolated spot if you prefer. It's only a very short walk to the lovely village with shops bars and restaurants and also a large supermarket. The hosts Steve and Wendy are wonderful and we've made genuine friends. The gites are beautifully finished and we wanted for nothing. we strongly recommend this lovely estate.

We really enjoyed our holiday in Field View at Baignes Ste Radegonde last June/July. We had booked for one week but loved it so much we decided to stay another week!!!
It was very secure for our two young daughters, who were respectively 3 years old and 3 months old. The gite was great and very well equipped: the washing machine was very useful and we appreciated the English TV, too. The property was clean and equipped with a cot as requested. We really enjoyed the privacy of our front terrace with the barbecue. This meant we could invite our French family (from the Dordogne) for meals.
We had a fabulous time and the children loved the horses, chicken and the very friendly dog. The pool was great and kept us cool during the hottest days and the pool terrace was a great place to chill out with other guests in evenings.
It was the French Music Festival day (Fete de la Musique) during our stay and all the cafés and restaurants in Baignes had entertainment. We all went to a restaurant on the square and spent a fantastic evening. Everyone was so lovely!
The location is fantastic with the proximity of beautiful lakes. One day we had the lake beach to ourselves! Just a minute walk from the door is a public bridle path covering 21km, part of a larger network of “Voies vertes”. Ideal for walking, cycling or jogging!
Wendy and Steve couldn't have been more helpful and gave us plenty of advice on where to go and what to do.
The local supermarket and the shops in Baignes were also very convenient, as you don’t always have to take the car. A great family holiday and we’re hoping to be back soon!

The gite was perfect - clean, had everything we needed, great space - even CBeebies! Our young children had so much freedom and yet were very safe. They loved going to feed the chickens and horses in the evening. It is a five minute walk into the village which had everything we needed and there is a super market within walking distance as well. There is an outdoor market on Sundays. Everyone we met was really friendly.
The pool meant that on days we didn't fancy driving anywhere we could relax yet the kids still had plenty to do and if we needed anything we could walk into the village.
Wendy and Steve and their family were so friendly, helpful and kind - they even fed us when we didn't realise that all shops, restaurants etc completely closed on Sunday afternoons.
There are plenty of day trips within an hour's drive through beautiful fields of sunflowers and vineyards. There are so many traditional French villages as well as larger towns like Cognac nearby.
I'd highly recommend this rental for anyone - young, old, couples, families. I even think it would make a lovely break at times other than summer. The only thing to bear in mind with toddlers is that there are open tread stairs and no stair gates - though, they may be available by request.
