Wherry Cottage is a charming brick built cottage with beautiful garden lying on a stream by Gay’s Staithe near Neatishead. The cottage, which is around 300 years old, was formerly two Wherryman’s cottages from which were worked the traditional trading vessels of the Broads. Gay’s Staithe is one of the prettiest and quietest parts of the Broads and offers everything for those that want a peaceful holiday with great fishing, direct access by water to Barton Broad and plenty of things to do right on the doorstep.

A no smoking property. Smoking is permitted outside ONLY please.

We were a family group of Grandparents, Parent, and Grandchildren. Wherry Cottage is a charming, lovely place to stay for a week. It is very individual and the atmosphere is lovely. It is a very comfortable and well equipped cottage, with enough space for socialising...More

About the neighbourhood
Neatishead is a quiet and unspoilt riverside village, with access onto Barton Broad, said to be where Lord Nelson learnt to sail. There is a small village shop and Post Office, and The White Horse pub, which serves very good food. For the naturalist, there's Alderfen Broad and Nature Reserve, and the Barton Boardwalk, and for the children (both big and small!) there's Bewilderwood, the magical adventure park amongst the trees.
Another must-see is the Radar Museum, formally RAF Neatishead. The base played an important role during World War II, and its centre piece is a Cold War Operations room, left exactly as it was in 1954.
