Overall we had a very good experience at the Bushwick home. The property was close to the J train and grocery store, so very convenient. We were 3 families, our selves with two little kids, my aunt and her husband, my cousin, his fiance and her son. So the bedroom situation worked out great. Enjoyed the large dining table for meals and hanging out to catch up. The window air conditioning units did their job keeping the rooms cool and comfortable.
The only things we wish we knew a bit more about before hand was parking. We know are not the norm having rental cars however we took several trips to Yonkers to visit family and we drove down to Maryland after our stay in NYC. Anyway, we had to do some figuring out of the various street signs on where and when you can park, and the double parking most everyone does during the 1-1/2 trash truck pick up time. We're figured it out and it wasn't a big deal, but a blurb on the site or checkin materials would have been great.
A previous guest mentioned the couch. It's old and comfortable, but definitely bottomed out in some areas so you had to adjust your seating. The top layer was coming off a lot and leaving a mess of the floor, so we had to sweep. But again, not a big deal.
The last thing was a couple building down was a very loud party until past 1am on a Monday night. Albeit it was summer so we weren't too upset, but having a note on what guests can do in that case would be great too. Friday night and Saturday night were loud too, with outdoor music on stoops until almost 230am. But again we figured it was summer and the NYPD website says they respond to noise complaints in 8 hours, which seemed like too long too wait, so we never called or submitted an online complaint. However our guest host said we could have called 311. Just something to add to the checkin instructions.
Again overall a great place, good location, very NYC vibe outside.
