We stayed at High Top for the month of June 2022. Home is spacious, three level with bedrooms & baths on each level, large kitchen with center island, deck to dine or relax. Water pressure great! Many ammenities, games, lots of cupboard storage. Laundry on main level as kitchen, family room. Enjoyed hot tub. Many activities in surrounding communities! Great restaurants nearby. Veny responded quickly to concerns & sent local repairman for air in lower level toilet plumbing pipes which made loud knocking sounds first night.
Several things were a concern. Kitchen stove labels have been rubbed off from use or cleaning. Microwave is old, some tabs unusable. Its surface lights not working, "on back order." When cooking at stove, only lights are to your back! The kitchen faucet is old, cracked, white, only provides spray, no straight steam. Might provide a blender appliance. View of mountains from deck is mostly obscurred due to foliage. Grounds need much attention (overgrowth of weeds on property amongst lovely flowers). Excessive humidity in lower level, even tho dehumidifier provided & emptied daily. King bed new mattress, but main level squeaky bed, upper level queen dips in center. Lower level game level had a strong unpleasant odor
Overall we enjoyed our stay. Very accommodating to families. Carport provides cover from rain. We cleaned the grill thoroughly. Extra propane tank provided. Dropped off garbage & recycle on trips to Waynesville with its lovely downtown area! Wonderful temps in June at this elevation! Hiked to Soco waterfalls, visited Wheels Through Time, ate at Joey's Pancake House, rode Blue Ridge Pkway, saw lots of elk at Oconoluftee Visitors Center, walked thru the old farmstead there & nearby Mingus Gristmill, toured Cherokee. Lots to see & do in this region. Great vacation!

We were thrilled with our stay at this property over the Christmas holiday. It is well maintained and the owner was super responsive. We even had a bit of an emergency due to a skiing accident with one of our kids on our last evening. The owner was so helpful, compassionate, and understanding in our communications during a difficult time.
This truly felt like a cozy home away from home. We highly recommend this property, and if we decide to come back to the Maggie Valley area, this would be our first choice.

Spent a long weekend with friends. Great views from the porch. Really nice property. We didn't use nearly the space available. Good WIFI, hot tub, TV, etc. Veny is a good communicator. Will be going back for sure.

This review is specifically for people not familiar with the area, as I was not when in the booking process, and would have found this information useful. This cabin is perfect if you're coming for a ski weekend.
We are from the Midwest and were there to explore the Smokies and Asheville area. If you're looking for easy and quick access to GSMNP I'd advise against this spot, or really anything in Maggie Valley. Bryson City or Cherokee offers easy access to the Park. Or consider staying up on the TN side. It's a harrowing drive up a very steep and windy road to get into and out of the cabin. (Again, perfect if your goal is to be up by the ski hill. ) So even something that looks like a quick trip to town for supplies seems daunting. Another thing, Maggie Valley does not have a grocery store. Just a Dollar store and a few gas stations - so you have to drive more than 30 minutes to Waynesville for groceries.
The cabin itself is nice, especially the open living room/kitchen area. We spent most of the time lounging there with the kids, and hopping into the hot tub was great fun.
One thing that really bugs me is that you're warned multiple times in ALL CAPS after booking and upon checking in that you must remove your own garbage at the end. This is probably standard in the area, but I've never been asked to do this. You have to schlep your week's worth of garbage to a place in Waynesville. So since we were heading west out of town, it was more than an hour out of our way to do this. You would think the owner could add this to something the cleaning crew takes care of, given the cleaning fee. There are multiple warnings of losing your deposit if you fail to remove garbage. Odd to me.
The bedroom on the 3rd floor was perfect for my teen & tween - they loved it up there and slept well. My husband and I slept in the basement (master) bedroom - which has a very noisy furnace - every time it went on, was like trying to sleep in a wind tunnel. We slept terribly. The bedroom on the 2nd floor, which had a very squeaky bed, so that wasn't a good option either.
Again, this is a great spot if you're skiing, or don't want to leave. As this was not the case for us, I wish we had booked elsewhere. I'm not trying to rant on the owner, he was quite cordial and responsive via email before/during our visit. I just wish I had known these things before booking, and didn't see our experience reflected in the other reviews.

We had a wonderful long weekend staying here! It was just as advertised...maybe even better! We had 4 adults and 2 teenagers and there was plenty of room for everyone. The location is also great...close to skiing and all that Maggie Valley has to offer. The hot tub was clean and so relaxing. We can’t wait to stay here again!!!
