This house was a dream! There were ten of us, ranging in age from 11-84 years. The first-floor master was perfect for my elderly parents. All the beds were super comfortable. The kitchen was well-stocked—plenty of towels and linens for everyone. And the view!--My sister-in-law refers to it as the Swiss Family Robinson house. Sitting on the deck you feel as if you are nested in a treehouse. The view changes throughout the day as the clouds roll in and is always beautiful.
We bought the Sapphire Valley amenity passes at a modest cost ($5 per person for 3 days and kids under 15 free) and enjoyed the lake, pools, and fitness center). We also enjoyed beautiful hikes and waterfalls in Gorges State Park and Pisgah National Forest.
The grocery store is about a 15-minute drive, and there are several restaurant options nearby.
All in all, it was a great trip and a wonderful house in which to spend the week! I would highly recommend this place.

The views from this home are absolutely breathtaking! It was incredibly well-appointed, too, with a generously stocked pantry and a truly fabulous kitchen. Hospitable little touches that made us feel welcome were found throughout the house. The beds were truly the most comfortable we’ve ever slept in, with great sheets and every variety of pillow you could need. There was a huge telescope in the master bedroom for star-gazing on the deck, which we enjoyed. Pat was extremely responsive when we texted her about a couple of very minor issues. Since the weather was phenomenal during our trip and we left windows open at night, it wasn’t an issue for us, but it should be noted that the only rooms with air conditioning are two upstairs bedrooms. The 12 minute drive up the mountain to get to the cabin is a one-lane, but paved, road with a LOT of switchbacks and without guardrails or a shoulder in many parts, but that isn’t uncommon for the mountains, just something to be aware of. We definitely wouldn’t drive it at night or in bad weather. Our only major complaint about the house is that we were told there would be sufficient WiFi for video streaming, which we needed/wanted during our trip for a number of reasons (schoolwork, online appointments, lazy nights watching Netflix). However, both the WiFi networks at this home had speeds of less than 0.5 mbps, which is too slow to stream video or even visit most websites (the average speed in the U.S. last year was 75-100 mbps). Verizon cell service was fairly good there, however, so if you don’t mind using your data plan, you can still email and visit some websites using your phone’s “hotspot”. For our particular set of needs, we would have booked a different property if we had been aware of this issue. But those who don’t need that would be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful or relaxing property to rent!

Amazing home with great space for kids (room with queen and bunk beds) and adults (3 additional bedrooms). Pat was very attentive and the home has everything you could possibly need! Amazing views that are worth the drive up. Road is paved and easy to follow up with caution. Recommend getting groceries in neighboring towns and cooking in the beautiful kitchen. Sapphire Ski Resort was closed when we visited due to warm unexpected warm weather but you can go tubing and ice skating at Highland Outpost/Scaly Mountain. Visit the Sapphire Brewing Company and Highlands for some extra fun!

Came up to the mountains with our family and we loved it! Well appointed home, beautiful views, lovely firepit and cozy accommodations. The drive from the main road is worth it! Curvy, narrow roads so it was difficult at night and in rain. Recommend daytime driving only for safety reasons. Cabin was A little on the darker side at nighttime as well, without a central/focal area of light but many lamps with many switches. This was a little difficult for someone with poor night vision. Pat was very responsive and we would Definitely stay again!!!

It was the best appointed house we have stayed. Kitchen lacked nothing! Beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room. The views were absolutely amazing. My daughter got married at Lonesome Valley/Canyon Kitchen and we were so pleased with the house. Spacious and great for entertaining. The only and only drawback was the drive up and down the mountain. Fortunately for the wedding we had a shuttle. Such a great place! Wish I was still there.

My family and I were all blown away at this beautiful home and the location.
The view from the awesome porch is breathtaking. We spent so much time outside on the porch and the sunsets were the best we’ve ever scene.
Pat is such a wonderful hostess and we were able to get a hold of her whenever we needed to and she has certainly thought of everything to make sure your stay in her home is the best!
If you are looking for a fun day trip checkout Outlaw Adventures for a boat trip on Lake Jocassee in South Caroline (40 min drive) to see the gorgeous lake and waterfalls.
We had the best time in this home and will definitely return.
