Holiday Rental House
STRATHCONA COTTAGE, a 2 bedroom cozy, well maintained, cottage with great Lake Views and Sunsets. Updated yearly. One of the few last authentic cottages on Shawnigan Lake. This 70 + year old cottage is only a stones throw to the lake and the dock where you can moor your boat, play in the water or just relax. Wander among the tall stately trees in the backyard and woods beyond. This is a Perfect Setting for a Relaxing Getaway any time of the year! It is also believed to house E.J. Hughes parents while they were caretakers for the famous Strathcona Lodge. Our other property next door is where E.J. Hughes himself lived and painted the majority of his works for 20 years. Lovely 2 bed cottage very well equipped and comfortable. Great kitchen for cooking and large open dining and lounge space. All spotlessly clean and well maintained. The only disappointment was the location as set back from a very busy and loud road. The house is...More

The cottage is located across a fairly busy street from the lake and dock. The cottage itself was perfect - not too ornate or too rough - just right! The kitchen is fully equipped even though I brought my own knives. Behind the cottage is...More

About the neighbourhood
Shawnigan Lake is located approximately 48 km (30 mi) north of Victoria, and borders the communities of Cobble Hill and Mill Bay. Several new residential developments have been built, both in the Shawnigan Lake area as well as in surrounding areas. The village of Shawnigan Lake, located on the eastern shore, contains two small general stores, three restaurants, several beaches and various small businesses including a barber, video store, and two coffee shops. There is also a museum, run by the Shawnigan Lake Historical Society. The north-west end of the village also includes many summer cabins and a large lakeside park. The south end of the lake is largely undeveloped, discounting the lakeshore itself, with scattered farmland and numerous hiking trails. Our cottages are located on Strathc...
How to get there
Alternative routes the Shawnigan Lake is: public bus from Victoria, BC Ferries from Duke Point (Nanaimo, BC) - 46 miles and I think there are Float Plane services to the lake as well.
