Church House is a superbly renovated, self catering farmhouse with many period features. This house is in a truly peaceful, but not at all isolated, location in the hamlet of Boot, in the Eskdale valley in the Lake District National Park. Church House sleeps 7 people in three bedrooms and provides luxurious accommodation and ample living space. A study and TV room are available in addition to the sitting room. A beautiful south-facing sun room houses a dining table and L shaped sofa with views across the open fields to the fells beyond. Our usual impeccable high standards, antiques and homely touches adorn Church House. Awarded 5 star Gold by Visit England, the house is set within two acres of private grounds with its own shallow stream. A beautiful house in a perfect location. Plenty of lovely walks! We particularly loved the conservatory which has amazing views and also the huge and very useful boot room!

Great week in the Lakes in this wonderful period cottage. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay and a hamper was left to welcome us. Beautiful views to the front and rear. Would definitely stay again !

About the neighbourhood
The valley of Eskdale begins via Hard Knott Pass, a steep mountain road that is one of the most challenging drives in the Lakes. At the valley top is an old Roman fort built between AD120 and AD138, which is open to visitors. There are spectacular views from there right down to the Irish Sea and the old fishing village of Ravenglass, where there is a ruined Roman bath-house. Nearby is Muncaster Castle, Gardens and Owl Centre, with lots for children to do all year round. The bubbling River Esk runs right through Eskdale, flowing to the estuary at Ravenglass. The river has super, natural pools for swimming, especially at Trough House Bridge and Forge Bridge.
