Situated a mile north of Cartmel in the South Lakes Peninsulas of the Lake District in the Northwest of England, it is about 2 hours' drive from Manchester. 15 miles from the M6 motorway junction 36. Walks to Cartmel village (1 mile) and Holker Hall (3 miles), well known for its gardens, are set in lakeland scenery. Walking further up the valley one finds grandstand views of the Lakeland Fells. Cartmel, known for its old world appeal, is built around an ancient Priory. Although quite small, it boasts race course, pubs and restaurants including L'Enclume with its 2 Michelin stars, and many shops including the famous Sticky Toffee Pudding shop. There's even a speciality cheese shop and a bakery. The many attractions of this lovely area are within an easy drive. Golf and riding locally, as well as the well-known Motor Museum which now on the old Blue factory site at Backbarrow.
