Milnthorpe, Cumbria, England
Set in a small peaceful village by the tidal river Kent Estuary. The Cottage is surrounded by beautiful countryside and woodlands or just walk a few hundred yards out of the door and you can walk for miles along the beach, the scenery is stunning!
Beautiful traditional cottage With wood burning stoves/fires in the lounge and dining room plus full gas central heating, this cottage is very cosy. It has lots of charm, traditional style range cooker and wooden/stone floors. Has a fully equipped kitchen dishwasher etc. and washing machine in the small utility room. It is ideally situated for country walks in this designated area of outstanding natural beauty. The sea front is only 250 yards away and there is a great Pub The Ship Inn a similar distance.

Lovely cottage, great location, so near to the beach our dogs loved their long walks. All the essential facilities you need with lots of extras to make your stay special. The cottage was very warm and clean, we will be back.

About the neighbourhood
The small village of Storth occupies a pleasant position on the estuary of the River Kent, and is situated on the border between Lancashire and Cumbria. The name Storth derives from the old Norse word meaning 'a woody place'. In the seventeenth century, Storth was a small hamlet with a few scattered farms in the outlying area. The main industries in the area were sheep farming, fishing and the gathering of cockles and mussels. Storth Sea Bank was built about 1776 along the lower part of the Kent Estuary.
The Kent Estuary is a haven for bird life, green shanks, golden plovers, mergansers and goosanders, oyster catchers and lapwings can all be seen along its shores.
