Sladen Lodge is a luxury, contemporary self catering property for up to 14 guests located in the beautiful village of Hathersage in the Peak District. Situated in an elevated position you can enjoy the spectacular views of the Hope Valley from the comfort and warmth of the Lodge or from the sunny, south facing patio in the large surrounding garden. With 7 bedrooms, all of which are en-suite, every guest can experience the luxury that makes Sladen Lodge so comfortable and relaxing. Each individually styled bedroom has zip and link beds which means they can either be set up as 3 ft twin beds or joined together to make a 6 ft superking bed.
Sladen Lodge is very spacious and comfortable with a huge dining room where you can all dine together around one table. There is a newly fitted kitch...

Perfect venue for a large family get-together
We booked Sladen Lodge for a family party of 13. The house delivered on every detail. It was all as described - every bedroom was luxurious with lovely linen and comfy beds, all the bathrooms were great with excellent showers, the communal areas were spacious yet cosy and the kitchen worked well with 2 dishwashers being an absolute boon with a large party. The village location was good, lovely shops (butcher & deli) and the outdoor swimming pool was a big hit. Everyone in our party thought this was one of the best holiday houses we'd ever stayed in, and we'd certainly book again to explore more of this stunning area.

A place to enjoy the countryside in complete comfort!
Perfect place for large groups to enjoy an active break in the Peak District. Sladen Lodge is beautifully decorated with excellent facilities and lots of space - including room for everyone to sit together both in the lounge, round the dining table and, weather permitting, round the large table on the terrace - fabulous view! Bedrooms are very comfortable and all en-suite. Situated on the edge of Hathersage with local amenities a short walk away - including tennis courts and in the summer an outdoor heated swimming. Lots of excellent walking in beautiful countryside directly from the house or a short car ride away. As a large family group, we have met up annually at Sladen Lodge for the last 5 years and have had a fabulous time without exception! The train does pass close by but that really does not detract in anyway - the children enjoy giving it a wave!

Great family Christmas 2011
This was our first full family Christmas together since 1987, and Sladen Lodge was the perfect venue for 12 of us with ages ranging from 10 weeks to 82 years to get together. The house was the perfect with en-suites (with very good showers) in all rooms, a large lounge and dining for the full house altogether.
Great views from the house, plenty of parking for our 4 vehicles and only a short walk into the village of Hathersage. Even asda delivered the groceries for the Christmas week at the ore-booked time!
The location was perfect for those who wanted to have a relaxing time indoors or for those that wanted to get out about into the Peak District for some great walks.

Excellent venue
Very clean, spacious, welcoming. Furnished to high standard. Location ideal for easy access to town centre, local visitor attractions and beautiful countryside.
Large party easily accommodated even though the kitchen was a little small. Highly recommend to groups of family or friends. Would definitely return.

This gives extra work surfaces for food preparation and can be used for serving drinks as there is a full size fridge freezer in addition to the tall larder fridge in the main kitchen.

The perfect retreat to spend time with friends!
Totally proffesional and friendly service from the original enquiry, to closing the door on our way out!
The place was spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and felt homely from the off without making you feel scared to touch or use anything!
Location! far enough from Meadowhall to make it an affordable weekend!! but the pub was close enough to walk to! beatiful walks on your doorstep for all abilities!
A great place to spend time with great friends and enjoy a 40th Birthday Party to remember! Thanks V. Much!

Wonderful Weekend Break In The Beautiful Peak District
I celebrated my 50th Birthday at Sladen Lodge, along with family and close friends, 13 of us in all. I was hoping Sladen Lodge to be good and it exceeded my expectations! From the moment we walked in, we were bowled over by the high standard of each and every room, from the extremely comfortable and huge beds, to the fantastically equipped kitchens, homely lounge and roomy dining area. If you are arranging a break for a large group of people, look no further than Sladen Lodge, is my advice - you will get everything...and much more to make for a wonderful and memorable stay away!

A terrific place for a Group
This is a great location for a group wanting to get together. The standard of the accommodation is high - with equal quality bedrooms and bathrooms, which can be unusual for large houses. It is in a convenient location for strolling into the village for a browse or setting off on hikes across the hills. It is also very well equipped with crockery, cutlery etc. for large groups. Real proof of our enjoyment is the fact that we have returned four times.

A wonderful place to celebrate a special event
We stayed at Sladen Lodge for a long weekend to celebrate a 70th birthday. The accomodation is very well equipped with lots of added extras you wouldn`t normally get in a holiday cottage. There is enough cutlery & crockery for the 16 people whilst also having a dishwasher full too.
This is in a very quite location, there is a train line running near the property but this did not effect us in any way. There are lots of lovely walks and beautiful towns near by.
I would definately recommend this to anybody with a large party looking to celebrate a special event.

Wonderful!!
15 girls on a hen weekend, and we all had a wonderful time at Sladen Lodge. Everyone commented on how lovely the beds were! Lovely bedrooms too, with ensuits!!! with nice shampoo etc.. The grounds of the house would be perfect for families and groups of friends, so much room to 'play'!!
I would totally recommend Sladen Lodge to all my friends and family. Thank you anna for such a lovely stay!!

Plenty of space and great facilities
We enjoyed a family weekend at this lovely lodge in Hathersage. The weather was not good but the space inside the lodge meant there was room for our two year old granddaughter to play safely. When the weather did improve on the Sunday we enjoyed playing in the garden space at the side of the lodge. The views are spectacular - just as seen on the web site photos.The facilities and amenities second to none: loads of fridge and freezer space; two dishwashers; a great utility and 'drying' room and tons of crockery, glassware, cutlery etc. The bedrooms were lovely and the beds comfortable. The fact that all the bedrooms have en-suite facilities is a real bonus in my book. The only 'surprise' was the close proximity of road and rail (just at the bottom of the drive) and trains heralding their passing with a loud hoot! It didn't bother us as our granddaughter loved it when the trains came past and the nearness of the road meant that we could easily walk into Hathersage where we enjoyed coffee and cakes on a rainy Saturday morning. I would highly recommend a stay.

About the neighbourhood
The Hope Valley is a spectacular part of the Peak District consisting of rolling hills and dramatic gritstone edges. It is a walkers paradise, with no end of varied routes to suit all ages and abilities. For the more adventurous there are numerous activities such as climbing, abseiling, clay-pigeon shooting and caving nearby, or you can opt to visit one of the many historic attractions in the area.
The centre of Hathersage is only a few minutes walk away from Sladen Lodge and offers a good range of convenience stores, pubs, restaurants and shops, including a deli, bakery, butcher and greengrocer. There is a 30m heated outdoor pool which is open all year round.
Getting around
A car is not totally necessary as traveling to Sladen Lodge by public transport is easy. However, a car may be the easiest way to get to places more further away than the surrounding area. We are conveniently located less than a 10 minute walk from the Hathersage train station which is on the Sheffield to Manchester line and we have a bus stop at the bottom of the driveway on the 272 bus route from Sheffield to Castleton.

Sladen Lodge is located on the A6187. Travelling from Sheffield towards Castleton you will travel through the village of Hathersage, past the George Hotel on your right, continue a further 200m and the driveway to Sladen Lodge is signposted on your right hand side, just before the railway bridge.
