Holiday Rental House
A 200 year old “Kellerstöckl” (wine-press) adapted into an international award winning house. Two stories, with a loft space on the first floor and below the original wine cellar with vaulted ceiling. Perfectly situated in a 4000m2 garden overlooking the Alps. The house received wide architectural acclaim. From local to international press, the architecture was praised for the uncompromising approach to a new idea based on traditional building values. Designed by Yes Architecture, the house took ideas from the original “Kellerstöckl” (wine press) windowless building and the for this area unique corn-cob drier structure, one standing next to the house. The interior is a modern interpretation of a traditional “Bauernstube”, an old farmhouse parlour....A 200 year old “Kellerstöckl” (wine-press) adapted into an international award winning house. About the neighbourhood
Sausal thrusts up from the northern banks of the Sulm valley, west of the town of Leibnitz. Its highest point, the summit of the Demmerkogel, rises 671m above the level of the Adriatic Sea. Large parts of the Sausal have a mediterranean-type microclimate, together with the rich soil this is the basis of its extensive vineyards. A local vineyard is called “Buschenschank”. A special law from the 18th Century enable them to serve their own produced wines and simple (cold) food. Wineries give wine tasting to encourage wine purchase. Many sport options allow for an “active” stay in the area.
Getting around
It is highly recommended to come with a car to give to you the best possible options for getting around. This is the country side and public transportation is very limited.
