Love these apartments which offer stylish accommodation fully equipped to make sure you have a fabulous stay. Parked easily in the road outside when we arrived and didn’t use the car until we left. Ideally located with views of the sea and everything on your doorstep. An additional bonus that dogs are accepted so we could all enjoy our stay

We stayed at the Pier from Wednesday 21st may for three nights. Although a great location there were a number of issues with the standard of finish in the apartment. Main issues were the bathroom- floor grouting in a shocking state, many bits missing and looked dirty. Bath panel in a bad way, needs a refurb or replacement. Closure Window in bathroom in a very poor state with closure itself almost out of the wood. Freezer box in fridge wouldn’t close. Main curtain in living area off its hooks and didn’t draw easily. Sash Windows also need overhaul..continuous rattling with closure bit of big window also loose in the wood. The bedroom door from the main room didn’t close. Finally the water pressure was poor and made showers/ bathing a very long frustrating experience. I think if this apartment is being advertised as a quality finished apartment and charging a lot of money, then these issues shouldn’t be present. I am not a person who normally complains but I was so disappointed as I had booked it for my husband’s birthday.

Super apartment was noisy at times but not a real issue, it was furnished very nicely and parking nearby was not an issue at all, would highly recommend.

Without doubt the location of this property is ideal and the mattress is very comfortable. But unfortunately there are areas that really need addressing by the owner and frankly we were surprised that the property is let out in this state. Firstly, the plumbing needs a major overhaul - you simply cannot bath or shower as the water pressure is awful. If you try and run a bath then good luck because you will be waiting a long time for it to fill. The shower is also in poor condition. Water temperature in general in the bathroom is totally uncontrollable for the very little amount of water that does run. At best you can use the sink and have a wash with a flannel ! The Bathroom shelf has mould growing on it- as does the window blind. Both the sofa and armchair in the living room have stains on them and need a proper steam clean. We are very disappointed and feel the property is over-priced given the above factors. Please note: I do have photos which I will add to prove all the points above. I believe that once this review is submitted that I will be able to do that.

Stayed at ‘The Pier’ for a long weekend and was pleased to see a nice welcome pack with a few essentials and nice treats. The flat is well appointed and well positioned, bright and has a side sea view. Very pleased with the heating, the space, the storage and hooks on most doors as well as the small but perfect dishwasher. Just wonder how often the washing machine is used? One disappointment for me was lack of staple essentials in the kitchen area. No salt, pepper, oil, tin foil and the like. Also, I found the crockery and utensils poor quality or lacking. We invited friends in for a coffee and found we only had 3 mugs, no cups. We had to use a milk jug as the 4th mug. The knives and forks are of basic quality which unfortunately is a big negativity that could have been avoided. The bed and bedding are ok, better quality of each would enhance the experience nicely. Overall, if your not planning to cook significantly, this little gem is perfectly positioned for Southwold cafes, pubs and restaurants as well as promenade strolling and beach fun.

The apartment is a small conversion, consisting of three rooms (large lounge with galley kitchen; small double bedroom and a separate, connecting, bathroom/w.c.) on the first floor of a Victorian house. The conversion has been undertaken to a good standard, with good quality fittings, whilst the apartment is fully equipped with the necessary, modern, facilities i.e. oven/hob, dishwasher, washing machine, tv with Freeview, wi-fi, etc. The location of the apartment is excellent with the Promenade/Sea-front (visible from a side bay window) less than 100 metres away and the shops within five minutes walk. On the downside, storage is limited and, from a personal viewpoint, I would like to see hooks on the back of every door and a few more shelves in evidence (especially in the bathroom). Rubbish, from all apartments, has to be left (in black sacks) outside of the (house) rear door - this is both smelly and unsightly as there are no bins provided to contain the bags. Sound transference may prove to be an issue should you find yourself with unthinking neighbours but this was not a problem whilst we we there. Otherwise there was a difficulty of some kind with water pressure on the cold tap in the bathroom sink; no matter what time of day or night it was used there was always only a trickle to be had! Nice little apartment which is ideal for a couple renting for a short break - pet friendly too!

We love Southwold have visited many times, we usually book a cottage, as it was only the 2 of us this time we decided an apartment would suffice. Although it was spotless, furnished nice we would not stay again. Ours was the middle apartment, and unfortunately people who were staying in the others were noisy, letting doors slam etc, a family was above us and we heard loud bangs, either something heavy dropped or kids jumping off furniture. Most probably just unlucky with discourteous neighbours?

So sorry you did not enjoy your stay, if you would like to stay again we would be happy to offer you a discount as we have had a vast number of people stay with us and this is the first time anyone has complained about noise. Please let me know. Thanks Lucy.

Having just spent a weekend at The Pier we can highly recommend it. Located close to the lighthouse, it is in easy walking distance of the beach, shops, pubs and restaurants and it is a modern, well-equipped and comfortable property.

My sister and I stayed here for 3 nights right at the end of September, beginning of October. The view on entering the apartment made us dance around with delight - to see the sea from the window was a real delight. The apartment is light, airy, clean, modern and generally very calming. Very well provisioned. My sister slept on the sofa bed, and found it very comfortable indeed. The apartment feels secure, and is ideally situated within walking distance of all available in beautiful Southwold, yet you still don't hear any noise or disturbance from outside the apartment. All in all we can't recommend enough.

About the neighbourhood
Southwold Beach and Pier are a must. The Pier has a wonderful traditional arcade along with the infamous 'Under The Pier' show, and the beach is just stunning. Southwold has several lovely restaurants, and we can recommend Coasters and Sutherland House. The Crown Hotel also serves great pub food. The Sole Bay Inn, literally just around the corner at the end of Stradbroke Road serves great pub food all day. The Sole Bay Fish Company, a fantastic ‘rustic’ seafood restaurant can also be found near the mouth of the River Blyth heading on foot towards Walberswick. Both pubs in Walberswick offer great food, and the rowing boat ‘ferry’ is also a fun experience. This is also the best spot for crabbing.
Getting around
The closest train stations can be found approximately 9 miles away in the villages of Darsham and Halesworth. There are also several local taxi firms. There are two bicycle hire shops on the corner of Station Road and Blyth Road, with some lovely off road cycle paths to enjoy over the marshes towards Walberswick. The nearest petrol stations are both approximately 9 miles away, and can be found in the villages of either Halesworth or Darsham. Days out for the children include Pleasurewoodhills Theme Park, Framlingham Castle and boat hire at the Waveney River Centre. Numerous bus services also run from the town and pier.
