We had an excellent stay at this beautiful property in November. It certainly surpassed all our expectations. When we arrived, the owners had left a super welcome pack, which included local produce and which meant that we didn't have to go straight out to get supplies. We stayed in the ground floor fat, though I understand the owners let the other two flats above too. The period property was superbly located, beautifully furnished and clean throughout. - it had a real feel of luxury and was so lovely and cosy to return to at the end of our days out. The castle is literally across the road from the property and there are excellent pubs, shops, some fantastic restaurants and the unmissable Alnwick Gardens within a few minutes walk. The North East coastline is one of the best we have ever visited. We will definitely be going back to visit again as there is so much more to explore, and so many more restaurants and pubs that we didn't have time to visit. Thank you so much to the owners for making our stay at Barbican view so memorable. Jack McKenna and Charlotte Clyne-Mackie

Alnwick is a wonderful town with plenty to see and do. Used the local buses to visit all the coastal villages nearby wonderful bus service. Our apartment had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Really good shower and plenty of hot water. Excellent welcome pack including a bottle of milk for that cup of tea.The patio area was sheltered and lovely for a cup of tea and cake, or that G&T Warning .Just book in advance of you want to eat out. Every where full not only in Alnwick.

Had a lovely 3 night stay at Barbican View situated right in the centre of the lovely town of Alnwick. The apartment was spotless and the owner had left a very generous welcome basket with lots of goodies when we arrived. We were only there a short time but it proved to be a wonderful weekend, helped of course by gorgeous blue skies. We had no problem parking close to the apartment and used the parking permit provided. The apartment is a great base to explore further afield. We got up to Holy Island and Bamburgh which was a very easy drive. Nearer the apartment Alnwick Castle is on the doorstep and the lovely Alnwick Gardens are well worth a visit. Would not hesitate to recommend to family and friends and hope to return when lockdown eases further !

In a perfect location opposite the castle and within easy walking distance of river, shops and restaurants, this comfortable cottage is well equipped and tastefully decorated and furnished. Fresh flowers in the sitting room were much appreciated, as was the welcome tray which offered generous goodies. There is a spacious bedroom with a comfortable bed and the adjoining spacious bathroom has a shower as well as a bath. (A bed and towel were left for our dog, together with a packet of treats!) This is an excellent base for those wanting to spend time in Alnwick, but also for those wanting to explore Northumberland's wonderful beaches and castles. The apartment was spotless and at a time of concern about coronavirus the owner takes great care with sanitising surfaces, washing linen and changing cushion covers etc.

Location is excellent, short walk to the town centre and across from the castle (although that entrance is currently not in use). A parking permit is provided and we had no problems parking just around the corner from the apartment. Very easy access with a key provided in a safe lock so we didn’t have to panic about getting there at a certain time to gain access. The apartment itself was beautiful, quite a large lounge which also had a dining table and gorgeous large bedroom, big bed which I love and really comfy and a lovely big en-suite bathroom with the best shower head! There was also a jacuzzi bath which I didn’t actually try but a great option to have! There is also a lovely private garden at the back which sadly we didn’t take enough advantage of as too busy out sightseeing. Fallen in love with Northumberland and this apartment. Hope to be back soon.

As the name suggests the flat has a perfect position in Alnwick with a castle view so that you can easily explore all of Alnwick's attractions and eateries on foot. Most just a few hundred metres away. The flat itself is very comfy, cosy and filled with all of the bits and pieces you need in a self catering apartment. We cooked in a few nights and the kitchen had a good selection of cookware etc. A lovely couple's retreat. The welcome hamper of goodies was an added bonus. We stayed for a week and used it as a base for exploring some of Northumberland's fantastic coastline and castles. The nearby Cheviot hills were a surprise treat and almost completely deserted on the walks that we did. We'd recommend them to anyone who will isten!

Barbican View is a lovely holiday apartment located in an attractive historic building right opposite Alnwick Castle. Stayed here for a weekend getaway in May and had a great time exploring Alnwick's amenities including excellent restaurants and pubs only a short walk away. The apartment has been tastefully renovated throughout, combining modern amenities with some lovely period features such as the fireplaces and the window seat overlooking the Barbican. A lovely hamper of treats was waiting for us on arrival. Highly recommended for those looking for a perfectly located bolt hole in a beautiful Northumberland market town.

About the neighbourhood
As well as having its own attractions - Alnwick Castle ('Hogwarts') and Gardens and Barter Books being the most famous - Alnwick is a perfect central hub for exploring Northumberland. Bamburgh Castle, Cragside House and Gardens, Dunstanburgh Castle, Hadrian’s Wall, Northumberland Heritage Coast and Northumberland National Park are all easily accessible by car. The nearby Northumberland Coast AONB has some of the most unspoilt beaches in the country.
Getting around
Alnmouth is well served by buses up the coast via Craster, Newton-by-the-Sea, Seahouses and Bamburgh, making day trips and walks in the Northumberland Coast AONB very convenient. There are frequent buses to the East Coast main line rail station at Alnmouth, from which you can get trains to Newcastle, Edinburgh, etc. There are also express buses to Newcastle. However, most visitors will prefer the convenience of a car allowing trips inland to the Northumberland National Park, Cragside, Kielder Water, Hadrian's Wall and Newcastle (just under 45 minutes away).
