Dirty and cold. As is the British way, the place contains just the bare minimums allowed. It is designed to make money, not for the comfort of the guests.
The good :
beds are soft and comfortable. The garden is delightful.. plenty of hot water .
The bad :
dirty all over house. Behind curtains is dirt and cobwebs. Back corner of cupboards are the same plus mouse droppings. House is cold. Heating on a timer as to conserve cost I’m sure. . No hair dryer. ( as we came from America by plane we carried limited luggage that does not work with 220 volts. Kitchen windows permanently cocked so expect any cooking to stink up the whole house. Furniture is cheap and uncomfortable. Very dim lights throughout. I guess that to stop the dirt and crud to be visible. There is nowhere to hang coats so they are put in a pile on the dining table. A long walk to town.
THE UGLY : downstairs toilet brush is submerged in 3” of brown toilet water which drips off the brush is one uses the brush. no spare blankets. Back door pops open and needs to stay locked to keep closed. WIFI is really really bad. Constantly disconnecting & slowest I’ve experienced since this century started.
Conclusion:
I won’t return. After experiencing many vacation stays this is at the bottom of the list.

Stayed for the last week in September, just two people.
Bed was comfy but interior decor was tired and very shabby and dated. Kitchen is badly in need of a refurbishment/replacement and just felt grubby. Soft furnishings such as curtains were unpleasant and old. Altogether a disappointment. Won’t be returning

Disappointed...endeavouring to leave a balanced review
Disappointed...I am endeavouring to leave a balanced review and wish I could post photos.
The property was in a good location, it was spacious and had very comfortable beds.Owner provided non feather duvets due to our allergies. However the photos on the booking website were clearly taken years ago, as the photos do not reflect the state of the property! ...the owner has now confirmed that this is the case but states that some redecoration in certain areas has taken place. , there are still many areas in need of complete redecoration and DEEP CLEANING ...on arrival the kitchen cupboards were thick in grease, there were dirty pans, cups and plates and the floor was grubby.
There was a cracked sink in the downstairs toilet and the main front bedroom had THICK black mould around the window surround, which must have built up over a period of time and clearly has NOT been treated.
All these issues were outlined to both the holiday letting agent and the Owner who was defensive and unapologetic . A proper apology would have gone a long way. The Owner states that the property was inspected in May by the agent and that the house is regularly cleaned.... from my comments above it is clear that a further inspection is required and the owner needs to be checking her cleaners work as the Visitors book would indicate that ours is not the only complaint. Yorkshire Holiday Cottages (Ingrid Flute) need to take some responsibility for the condition of the property in contrast to the photos and description on their site.... we are still waiting for a response from the agent, to date we have received a generic reply to say they are busy but will get back to us.
