My sister and I spent 4 wonderful days here in early August. We hiked up Elk Mountain (1000 feet elevation), rode our bicycles on the nearby rail trail, went swimming every afternoon and had the whole lake to ourselves. Our hosts were welcoming on arrival and responsive before and throughout our stay. Their house was very comfortable for two people - we particularly enjoyed having morning coffee and lunch on the porch, under an umbrella, overlooking the lake - 'serenity plus'!
We brought groceries with us, as the nearest store was about 10 miles away, and the small general store 0.2 miles down the road was great for sandwiches and takeout pizza - it's also the place to meet the friendly locals.
I was concerned there might be a problem with mosquitos, being right on the lake, but I'm happy to report that there were none.
This was a lovely spot to unwind and just what we needed.
