Lochan View cottage is an excellent place to stay on the Isle of Lewis. It was clean, spacious and accommodated 4 people and 1 dog perfectly - with room for more! The kitchen was well equipped and all bathroom facilities worked well. There was a lovely garden for the dog to enjoy, however do watch out for the decking ledge which isn't fully enclosed. Our dog being big and inquisitive was able to jump into the next field. Although this wasn't a problem for us, there is sometimes sheep roaming freely so worth bearing in mind if you have a naughty canine! The area is beautifully quiet and has a small Post Office up the road (within walking distance) for any groceries. The cottage location is perfect for exploring both islands, with fantastic coastal walks from the doorstep and beaches to seek out.

What a lovely place to stay and get away from it all. I cannot fault the location stunning although it was October we stll managed to get a little sun to sit outside on the decking. Property lovely and clean there was only the two of us and two dogs but well big enough for a family as three good sized double bedrooms, two bathrooms with one being on suite, sitting room and large kitchen with dinner and a smaller sitting room. There was a washer and dryer to use but we did not use them so cannot comment. Had to make sure turned the heating off at night as a warm house. I think the only fault was there was no fans in the bathrooms but would recomment to anyone.

Luckily it’s a long drive, a expensive flight or it comes as past of a super expensive cruise. Lewis & Harris are our favourite place on earth. Great Bernera is another glorious part of this fascinating island. It’s an island, off an island, off the mainland. Our cottage was a home from home. All we needed, well equipped, cosy, welcoming and just by the loch. It was great value for money shared between two couples. I would recommend Great Bernera as a place to stay on L & H - very quiet, it has a community centre, a small shop (no petrol station at the moment) and beaches and walks to die for. Please don’t book the week that we want.

A really well appointed cottage that had everything. It was clean and tidy. The kitchen is well stocked with modern utensils which is a sure sign the proprietor takes his responsibilities seriously. The views out the cottage are great with the sight of eagles against the backdrop of the mountains in harris. I would recommend this cottage to anyone and the owner was very easy to deal with. paul

We knew Lewis from 1970s summer holidays and we wanted to revisit our favourite spots. We were not disappointed. There are a few new visitor centres, and the best-known beaches are busier, but the place is still very wild and unspoiled. I can't add much to all the glowing reports - the cottage exceeded expectations. It is well-equiped, and unusually for a holiday cottage, there was a big, uncluttered kitchen with plenty of free cupboard space and a large fridge-freezer. The fenced-in garden was a plus for our little dog. The view is great and there were birds all around and on the lochan. When we were sitting on the deck chairs I kept the binoculars handy. Normal Lewis weather could be kindly described as misty charm, but our week was warm and sunny, with very few midges and dry ground for walking. The footpath to Bosta beach from the community centre was particularly special. There is a bus sevice to Stornoway. It was nice to be somewhere so remote yet not be totally car-dependent every day. Great if you want to wander off and do your own thing!

Breacleit is a scattered village in wild moorland. It has a church and primary school, and a community Centre/Museum, a large children's activity area and a Post Office/shop, all open at particular times only. The Cottage owners have chosen a spot with pleasant views and equipped it for comfort and convenience, and when we needed to phone them for advice were immediately helpful. We had some wet weather and mostly gale force winds, but felt secure and comfortable when we were in the Cottage. It makes a good base to explore the standing stones, broch, mill and other historic sites along the north west coast of Lewis.
