The villa is a two minute walk to the small piazza where there is a small restaurant and a bar/cafe for coffee and drinks. This bar is run by the village, so for non locals there is a 5 euro per person per week charge to receive a membership - however the drinks and coffee are good and very inexpensive and it is really a lovely way to be a part of village life - there is a local festival which runs for a week mid August which is open to anyone and is great fun. Sagras (food festivals) abound here, each village dedicates its own to a specific local food, there is open air dining and live music. Walkers and artists will find themselves in paradise in this part of the world, surrounded by stunning landscapes and art and architecture at every turn - you are in the middle of Renaissance Italy. There are local vineyards to visit for wine tastings and olive oil cantina's to sample Umbrian liquid gold! Acqualoreto is located within an hour's drive of some the most beautiful and famous cities in Umbria. Orvieto with its incredible cathedral, Assisi (home of St. Francis), Perugia (July brings Umbria Jazz and October brings the week long Euro Chocolate festival), Gubbio with its tiered town and lovely Roman amphitheatre, Bolsena situated on a lovely lake with neighbouring Civita di Bagno Reggio which is a pedestrian hilltop village perched atop its own volcanic pinnacle. Many of these places are World Heritage Sites - the list goes on. More
