This is a charming cottage set in rural surroundings and overlooking the River Lossie. An open log fire is laid ready for your arrival, the beds are made with carefully ironed linen and everything we think you might need is provided. Accommodation includes one double bedroom and one twin bedroom, a cosy sitting room and a bright kitchen/dining room. A barbecue sits waiting for the summer sun to be enjoyed in the enclosed garden. A maximum of 2 dogs is allowed by arrangement. The area has so much to offer. There are long sandy beaches along the Moray Firth, places for gentle rambling or more challenging hill walks and too many golf courses to mention! This is also castle country with Brodie Castle, Ballindalloch Castle and Cawdor Castle all within easy reach for a morning's outing ...This is a charming cottage set in rural surroundings and overlooking the River Lossie. If you have a passion for an interest in Malt Whisky we are on the Whisky Trail which starts with Dallas Dhu and continues on through the Spey Valley, all about a half hour's drive away. And of course being so near the Rivers Findhorn and Spey there is salmon fishing to be had and sometimes on the River Lossie adjacent to the cottage when the river is in spate. Naturally there is a television and DVD player , a radio and CD player. WIFI and a telephone land-line is provided as mobile signals can be erratic.More

I am sorry you found the bed a bit soft. It is difficult to find the ideal one that suits everybody. And I am so glad that you had a happy and peaceful week with your dogs in our beautiful place. Angela

A very picturesque cottage situated in the quiet rural village of Dallas. The cottage has private parking although it is a tight squeeze, and fronts onto the very quiet public road. There is a well fenced garden and dogs are welcomed. The cottage looks like...More

Very pleasant stay, visited old haunts around the Moray Firth. Cottage dog friendly and garden secure for my mini Dachshound. Had to make sure we collected any groceries when out as was a few miles away from any shops.

Interaction with guests
As a general rule, I and my husband will be close at hand during your stay. I will come to see you soon after your arrival, or the following day, to ensure that everything is to your satisfaction and to see if there is anything else we can help you with. Mobile signals are erratic in Dallas so you may like to know that there is a landline the number for which we will let you know on booking.

About the neighbourhood
In the immediate area the old market town of Forres is a friendly and welcoming place and both it and Elgin have some interesting architecture including, in Elgin the now ruined Elgin Cathedral. It is an imposing mostly 13th Century building which was the seat of the Bishop of Moray. Elgin Museum is the oldest independent museum in the UK and home to some world famous fossils, the Dandaleith Stone and many other interesting artefacts. St Michael's Church 50 yards from the Cottage was built in 1793 where services are still held every Sunday. George Mifflin Dallas whose family originally came from the area became the Vice President of the USA and Dallas, Texas may have been named after him.
How to get there
Coming from Edinburgh take the A90 then M90 north then the A9 at Perth signed Inverness. A good place to stop for lunch and maybe a little shopping is The House of Bruar at Bruar (known locally as the Harrods of the north!). It is about an hour and a half from here. Continue on and turn right off the A9 to Grantown-on-Spey onto the A95 and continuing straight through this town you will be on the A939 to Forres where there are supermarkets and tea rooms. In Forres turn right at the Tolbooth (clock tower), go down the hill and over a small roundabout onto the B9101. This will take you through the town's outskirts and then through the village of Rafford. Do not turn off to Dallas Dhu in Rafford but continue on to the next marked junction to the right. This will take you by a country ro...
