Where to start?
Directions sent after payment were good, easily found property from Stromness.
On arrival at what I thought was the back door, I was disappointed to find an obstacle course of broken broom handles, and the entry splattered with bird droppings.
Going inside, I soon found that there was little or no Meadow view, the “back door I mentioned is in fact the only door, the windows to the front are small and, when you are sitting on the not very comfortable sofas, quite high. On to the facilities not infact 3 bathrooms but 2 en-suite shower rooms and a separate toilet. The kitchen was average, nothing special.
Bedrooms, fair and down a flight of stairs, each with en-suite shower room. Outlook, almost half by half below ground level and looking wrong way for any Meadow view.
The accommodation was in clean order and fair condition.
Now back to the bird droppings and obstacle course, once inside I found a note, asking us to shoo away, and not feed the hens! I’d almost taken a tumble on the round poles lying on the door step!
A short time later two chickens appeared at the kitchen window. These are obviously well used to people as even chasing them off didn’t deter them.
On now to, the claim next to UNESCO world heritage site. Yes, it might be, but if it meant the Ring of Brodgar or Stenness, then next too is a bit of exaggeration, 3.5 to 4 miles of such.
In short, average property for price, no real view from window (while seated)
Chicken droppings on doorstep, obstacle course at door, we had an elderly guest with us and I dread to think of the consequences if she had stepped on the broken broom handles. TV limited channels no BBC2, not expecting a full SKY package but at least a decent freeview, average Kitchen Average bedrooms, poor seating in lounge.
