Located close to the village of Fort Augustus, at the southern end of Loch Ness, our self catering holiday home cottage is an ideal base for exploring much of the highlands of Scotland. This peaceful setting at the edge of the Inchnacardoch forest is just three quarters of a mile away from the heart of Fort Augustus, where there are shops, pubs and restaurants. The Caledonian Canal runs through the centre of Fort Augustus from Loch Ness, where boats can be seen negotiating a staircase of canal locks. Other local attractions include golf, fishing, The Great Glen Way, riverside and forest walks and boat trips on Loch Ness. The village of Fort Augustus, located at the southern end of Loch Ness, is situated midway along 'The Great Glen' between the town of Fort William and the City of Inverness, is central to much of the Highlands of Scotland The Caledonian Canal built by Thomas Telford in 1822 which runs the length of the Glen cuts through the centre of Fort Augustus, where boats can be seen negotiating a staircase of five canal locks.
