About the neighbourhood
Fort Augustus is on the Caledonian Canal. a series of 5 locks pass through the centre of town and there is nothing better than to relax at one of the local pubs with a drink by the canal watching the boats large & small negotiate the series of locks. Take a cruise on Loch Ness, perhaps you will see the monster, or you can catch a boat to spectacular Urquhart Castle sited further up Loch Ness.Fort Augustus has an extensive local path network and is also on the route of the Great Glen Way and Great Glen Cycleway.
Getting around
A car is ideal for touring the area, but not essential as all local amenities, including bus stance and boat terminal are within easy walking distance. Bikes are available to hire locally and there is a lockable bike storage container on site.
