The Beach House at Garrachan is a rebuild from the ground up of an iconic property set on the shores of Loch Dunvegan that had fallen into disrepair. The original property was built around the 1900's. The Beach House at Garrachan is set in a secluded area with approximately half an acre of private and fenced off garden. The exterior of the main house is clad with the original stones of the old house giving the property a particular stately appearance. Towards the front is Loch Dunvegan with easy access to the shoreline, an ideal opportunity for venturing out in kayaks. The property overlooks Dunvegan at the other side of the loch, the Cuillin mountain ridge in the distance and MacLeod's Tables.

The cottage is wonderful. Very high standard and all the the things you will need for all weathers. The view is stunning bunnies in the garden. You could see little lambs from every window . Lovely and clean High spec

Perfect in every way. Beautifully sited and elegantly renovated and decorated. We would highly recommend The Beach House, particularly as it's only 3 miles from The Three Chimneys.

About the neighbourhood
The surroundings are tranquil but not remote. The property overlooks Loch Dunvegan with the village of Dunvegan opposite from the property. Nearby attractions are Dunvegan Castle and castle gardens (the seat of the clan MacLeod), the Coral Beaches, Neist Point lighthouse and Orbost beach. There are many, many others but these should really not be missed.

There are truly great walks in any direction from the property. No need to use the car. Just venture out from the front door and choose a direction.

Close by (5 minutes by car) is the world famous Three Chimneys Restaurant (reservations required).

Shopping, lunches and dinners are available in Dunvegan and Glendale. The island capital, Portree, is 25 miles from the property.
Getting around
In order to get to see the island, a car is recommended. In case you're travelling via Inverness airport, you can arrange for a hire car there. Other airports like Glasgow and Edinburgh also provide car rental services.

The tourist business is a dynamic thing on Skye. Your best bet for up to date information on activities is to search the internet and make your reservations online as soon as possible.

From the Skye bridge follow directions towards Dunvegan. Expect a one hour drive from the Skye bridge to the property.

From the Skye bridge follow the A87 until you reach Sligachan. At the Sligachan Hotel, take a left onto the A863 towards Dunvegan.

Approaching Dunvegan just past the church on your left, take a left onto the B884. Follow for 1.8 miles. At the sign, 'Uiginish' take a right onto the Uiginish road. Follow until you reach a bin station and the track leading up to the property at your right-hand side.
