The cottage is in Sleat on the Isle of Skye, commonly known as 'The Garden' of Skye. It is right by the shore of Camus Cross Bay beside the picturesque village of Isle Ornsay. This, a crofting village of whitewashed cottages, once was a busy harbour for fishing boats. It has views overlooking a beautiful lighthouse. The local Hotel Eilean Iarmain has good food and a welcoming bar often with live music and Ceilidhs. The Misty Isle of Skye has the most spectacular scenery. It is dominated by the magnificent Cuillin Range which can be seen from many points of the island, each offering another breathtaking view....The cottage is in Sleat on the Isle of Skye, commonly known as 'The Garden' of Skye. We came to Skye and Cruard Cottage with my parents-in-law, our toddler (who is just under two years old), and a very energetic and happy dog. We had seen the photos but were still blown away when we walked into the cottage. Like another reviewer...More

About the neighbourhood
I love Elgol - my most favourite view in the world! - Stunning view of the Cuillin Range. Also walk on the pebble beach to the over hanging rock made of Jurassic Sandstone - looks like honey comb. There's a three mile walk to Camusunary Bothy from a mile outside Elgol. Take a fast rib to Canna and Rum whale and wild life watch. Ribs can be taken from Elgol - Bella Jane or Seafari from Armadale pier. Walk 3 miles to the Point of Sleat. Half a mile before the Point there is a track to one of the few sandy beaches on the island - a lovely bay. The point has a wee bothy and views to Rum and the Cuillin. There is a forest walk at Lettir Fern - near Kinloch Lodge - (which is an expensive/nice place to eat - Lady Claire MacDonald's Hotel) The local Hotel Eilean Iarmain is great for bar mea...
