Wonderful holiday on the Isle of Skye.
We stayed in Sorley's house (tigh shomarlie), from the moment we arrived we felt comfortable and very impressed with the location, the views are amazing, the cottage is very clean and welcoming, the location is perfect,so quiet and peaceful, and very close to the beach, sadly there is no freezer compartment in the fridge and the electric shower has very low water pressure, nevertheless we coped and would certainly stay here again, useful village store in Staffin, and Mackenzie store a couple of miles away, with a fuel station, Skye seafood vending machine is well worth a look, tasty fresh langoustines, and monkfish tails, climbed the old man of Storr and went to the fairy pools, Portree is also very nice with a small and a large co op and places to eat. We travelled from the Lake District but it was well worth it.

Good location, nice cottage
The cottage is strategically situated nearby the beach and in between a couple of touristic sites. The cottage had all we needed.

The whole family loved this cottage!
This cottage is great and was just perfect for our 4 nights on Skye. We were a family of four, and there was plenty of space for us to spread out. The kitchen was perfect and allowed us to easily cook a few meals and run a few loads of laundry. The location was beautiful and convenient to many of the places we wanted to see. The Staffin community center restaurant nearby was welcoming for when we chose not to cook. Highly recommend this place!

Spotlessly clean well appointed cottage in a great location!
Spent a long weekend in Sorley’s House on a photography trip to Skye. The location is fantastic, right on the Trotternish Peninsula minutes away from The Quiraing, Storr and other great spots. The cottage was spacious, well appointed and above all Cosy and clean. Would not hesitate to use again. Also spoke to the owner briefly before our stay and found her very very friendly and helpful. Overall a great experience.

Well maintained house in an excellent location for hikers
This modern, well maintained house is in an excellent location for anyone wanting to enjoy the wonderful hikes of northern Skye, eg., Old Man of Storr and Quiraing. The home is well equipped and has great views out to Staffin Bay.

Entorno envidiable, casa acogedora.

Comfortable cottage with lovely views
We stayed here for 5 days and really enjoyed our stay. There is a key safe of which you will get the code to let yourself in. The cottage is a decent size for 4 people. There is a microwave, toaster, kettle, oven, 4 hobs, washing machine and fridge in the kitchen with plenty of plates, cutlery etc. There also was a hairdryer, hoover, drying rack and iron/Ironing board which we did not use but it's handy to know:) Lovely views from the cottage, also all the sheep around the cottage with their wee lambs. Comfortable beds and plenty of storage space unless you stay a month. There is a folder with information/maps of things in the area which can be quite handy as well. We enjoyed our stay here.

About the neighbourhood
Originally named Kiltarigan, Port-righe – meaning King’s Port in Gaelic – was renamed after a visit by King George V. Situated in a natural harbour, Portree is a delightful haven for visiting yachts and cruise ships which return year after year. You can try deep sea fishing or go for a leisurely cruise around the neighboring Island of Raasay. There are many fine seafood restaurants to be found in and around Portree. After a delicious meal why not take a stroll to the village square where The Isle of Skye Pipe Band regularly play on summer evenings. Street fayres are held in the summer months providing fun and games for all the family. The island’s swimming pool offers regular fun days which the children will love. Local cycle hire is also available. There is a superb children’s playground at the Aros Experience – visitors will also enjoy the exhibition telling the full story of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s famed visit to Skye. The less energetic can while away the hours watching the local shinty team entertaining the crowd at their home park – Parc na Loch. For many people Portnalong/ Carbost this is the most inspirational area of the island. The awe inspiring scenery provided by the magnificent Cuillins has attracted countless visitors for over a century.
