Comfortable and enjoyable stay
We had a great stay at goose cottage. Lisa was very welcoming and on hand if we needed anything. The cottage was comfortable, characterful and calming, clean and well kept. We got a hamper on arrival which was a really nice touch. The area was great, beautiful countryside and lots of great walks nearby as well as easy access into Edinburgh. We will definitely look to stay again.

The ideal getaway location
Spent a week in Goose Cottage at the very end of September - beginning of October. It was so relaxing. The cottage is lovely, well equipped, and very clean. There is plenty of room in the cottage for 4 adults, or 2 adults with 2 children. The private back garden is lovely - and it is full of blue-tits and robins flying back and forth. There was a robin who liked to take up residence on the washing line and chirp out his orders. The cottage was warm and cosy with the addition of a log burner to make things even nicer. The internet worked like a charm! Location was easy to find, and even though you are only a few miles away from a town it felt like you were in the middle of nowhere (although a middle of nowhere that has 17 restaurants on Just Eat who will deliver to you should you fancy it). There was a large Tesco nearby which was an easy drive. Location wise it was perfect - we went into Edinburgh a couple of times, and we went out on the Maid of the Forth boat trip to Inchcolm Island (definitely worth paying to go onto the island and not just booking the boat trip) then spent an hour or two in Queensferry. We climbed up Arthur's Seat, and took a few other local walks. The whole week was relaxing - and we had fun playing some the games that are stocked in the cottage. The cottage is definitely somewhere we would book again and I recommend it to anyone who is after a relaxing break in an idyllic part of the world.

Lovely stay in a cosy and well appointed cottage
Goose cottage is located in a small enclave of cottages about 3 miles from Bathgate. The cottage was spotlessly clean, warm and welcoming and our host, Lisa, was helpful and friendly and made us feel very welcome. The cottage has everything you need for your stay with a comfortable lounge area and comfortable beds. The train service between Bathgate and Edinburgh/Glasgow is excellent and trains are frequent. Would recommend to others in a heartbeat.

Great cottage with lots to do nearby
This cottage was comfortable, well equipped and peaceful in the busy central belt of Scotland. It gives very easy train connections to Edinburgh and Glasgow from Uphall station and by bus to Edinburgh and Falkirk (1 mile walk to stop). However, this was a trip back to my home county so we avoided the cities and still found lots to do within a 30 min drive. Highlights were the Maid of the Forth boat trip to Inchcolm Island from Queensferry, Blackness Castle, Linlithgow Palace, canal trip to Avon Aqueduct from Linlithgow, Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway and rail museum, Falkirk Wheel and last but not least a great walk from the door in the lovely Bathgate Hills taking in the Knock and Cockleroy hills, Cairnpapple ancient burial site and Beecraigs country park. The small Bennie Museum in Bathgate is worth a visit as my home town has an interesting history from the beginnings of the Stuart dynasty to the discoverer or chloroform and the beginnings of the oil industry.

Excellent family holiday home.
We stayed here end of July/beginning of August having found the cottage on the hoseasons website or as I've since found out you can do it direct using Goosecottagescotland.com. Anyway, found the place easily as the postcode is accurate leading you directly to the entrance which I have to say is fortunate as its miles from anywhere. So first hurdle over with I have to say that it's probable the best holiday cottage we've stayed in. Everything was perfectly laid out and the quality of the renovation( in the past it's been a farm outbuilding) is second to none. Absolutely spotless, it felt immediately like a home from home and the kitchen had every gadget that you could possibly need. I would highly recommend that you stay here if you want to explore the environs of Edinburgh or just chill out in the lovely rear garden. I should also say that the neighbours who actually live on the farmstead are very friendly, chatty and will give you touring advice if asked. Enjoy.

Perfect cottage in a prefect location!
We stayed as a family of 4 at Goose Cottage for 2 weeks over Easter while visiting family locally. The house is clean, cosy, comfortable and in a perfect spot for peace and quiet but also to access Edinburgh, train stations, airport and local amenities. The house has everything you need and the stove was a delight to relax around in the evenings. Lisa was a perfect host, responding quickly at providing information, directions and supplying a lovely welcome hamper. She is very friendly and approachable yet still very respectful of your privacy. This cottage was a great base for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We will most certainly return.

Fabulous!
Goose Cottage is a well-appointed cottage a bit south of Edinburgh, located in an area where it is easy and convenient to visit many wonderful sites, including Edinburgh, Stirling, Abbotsford, and even St. Andrews. The cottage itself is luxurious, clean, and comfortable. The beds are especially wonderful, and my husband and I slept really well the whole week we were there. The kitchen is well-appointed, and the living room is quite comfortable. We also had wifi in the cottage. Lisa is a wonderful host, very kind and helpful. One day a tire in our rental car went flat, and Lisa had a pump to put some air in it, and then she got in her own car and led us to a tire shop where the tire was fixed. Talk about above and beyond! We were extremely grateful to her. Goose Cottage is a five-star place, and I highly recommend it. It has everything anyone would want, and it also has a terrific host.

Hervorragendes Cottage

About the neighbourhood
The West Lothian region has numerous places of interest to visit, all within easy reach from Goose Cottage so you are sure to find something for everyone to enjoy. There are many areas of historical significance such as Cairnpapple, a prehistoric burial ground, and Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots which has a magnificent lochside location. Hopetoun House also deserves a mention as Scotland's finest stately home set in 150 acres of parkland. The local Country Parks offer great walks in lovely scenery. One of the best is Beecraigs which has a deer park, fishing loch, play park with separate toddler friendly area and extensive woodland. The Almond Valley Heritage Centre is a fantastic day out for the family with a farm, several outdoor and indoor play-areas, train and museum all in one location. For a spot of retail therapy Livingston has a great designer outlet centre called MacArthur Glen. With so many attractions and activities on offer, we hope this is a destination you'll want to return to again and again.
