Excellent cottage, good location
We have had a lovely time visiting Scotland for the first time with the family. We chose this cottage for its location and transport links and were not disappointed. On arrival we found home made scones and jam and Lisa had very kindly seen our Tesco shop in and had put everything away. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and had everything required of a holiday cottage.

Goose Cottage is Home From Home
We have nothing but warm words for Goose Cottage. Very clean and tidy when we arrived. Welcome basket of biscuits and jams. All the facilities you need for a comfortable stay. Close to Bathgate and its station and restaurants and other amenities. Warm welcome from Lisa. We had a fabulous time and returned from our holiday feeling that we had experienced the best of Scottish hospitality. Warmly recommend this as a place to stay.

SUPERB IN EVERY WAY!
I have had the pleasure of staying in Goose Cottage for a week with my family and it was a delight from beginning to end. This wonderful cottage is perfectly situated by the main roads leading to central and most sought for areas in Scotland. The cottage itself is on a farm in a beautiful spot and Lisa is a hostess full of kindness. It was wonderful to arrive at a spotless 'home away from home' greeted by a basket of delicious treats. Everything one can think of to make his holiday a delight can be found at this cottage. It is spacious, light, with a lovely garden and a fantastic view of the fields. I could not recommend it more! I look forward to future opportunities to visit Scotland and there is no question as to the preferred accommodation. Goose Cottage is the place to be! 5 Stars!!

Stop searching and choose this one....especially if you are a family travelling to Scotland
The Goose Cottage is a wonderful accommodation in a perfect location. The set-up is simple but very, very comfortable...not an easy feat when you are travelling as a family of four including two tall teenagers that seem to spread out and take over whatever space we seem to visit. :-) The kitchen was well equipped and the the welcome basket was incredible. The cottage is set on a rural farm, and adjoins another building. The small front yard and back yard provide privacy and your own personal space, and looking out over the fields toward Edinburgh was terrific. The location can't be beat because its 20 minutes to Edinburgh (though we'd recommend the train from Uphall as it saves you trying to find parking near the castle when you get there), 35 minutes to Glasgow, within half an hour of Stirling Castle, the Falkirk Wheel, Loch Lomond, Tantallon Castle and a number of other key spots. Drive a little further and you can get to Perth and the hiking that is near there, and a longer drive can be made by heading north to Inverness, then down Loch Ness past Urquart Castle and back home via Glencoe (yes, its a full day but its worth it). All absolutely wonderful and the scenery is spectacular. Unfortunately, Lisa was away whilst we were there and so we did not have the opportunity to meet in person. We did chat over the phone, however, and found her to be friendly and very personable. We look forward to returning again in the future.

Thoroughly recommended
Gem of a cottage, beautifully furnished, all needs anticipated (clothes pegs to iPod adaptor). Blissfully secluded but easy to find. Good rail and road links to the cities. Delightful town of Linlithgow close by with excellent eateries. Thoroughly recommended.

Home from Home
This cottage is a real home from home. I was travelling on business and the cottage was perfect to come home and relax in after a long day at work. The kitchen is fully equiped and the log burner adds a special touch. My wife came to visit for a few days and did not want to go home! Also the position is perfect, you have access to some fabulous sites and only a short drive from Edinburgh. Definitely worth staying here.

A real home from home
We loved Goose Cottage. Lisa is an excellent host who lives next door and strikes a great balance of being there when you need help but leaving you to enjoy the cottage too. We had never stayed in such a well appointed holiday cottage which had everything we needed. After a long day sight seeing and visiting with our friends and family, it was a very welcome place. Though it is part of a farm development, it is only 5 minutes to a superstore and the closest train station which is about 20 mins to Edinburgh and 45 mins to Glasgow. We particularly enjoyed the woodburner. We would thoroughly recommend a stay here as a great base for sight seeing central Scotland.

Relaxing haven.
Stayed here recently for a week and used as a base for the Fringe Festival. We were always so glad to get back to the peace and quiet of Goose Cottage after the hustle and bustle of the city. The cottage itself was very clean and had everything you needed. The homebaked scones on arrival and welcome pack were most welcome! The beds and pillows were so comfy too. The owner Lisa was on hand if we had had any probs but didn't need to trouble her. All in all I would highly recommend it .Thank you very much!

A hidden gem
This is definitely the cleanest holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. Off the beaten track but very convenient for exploring Edinburgh and its environs as it is fairly close to arterial roads and only 5 minutes from local train station. We were greeted with a spotlessly clean cottage, a home baked cake for our stay (baked that day), a hospitality basket containing local produce and a comfortable bed with cotton bedlinen and lovely fluffy white towels. The cottage was quiet and comfortable and we slept like logs every night. It also has a small enclosed garden to the rear which would be very safe for children. Lisa McAleese, the owner was very helpful and hospitable and we would recommend this cottage very highly - you will not be disappointed.

Great place, home from home
Excellent place to be, everything you need is provided for, perfectly located for trips, the cottage is very well equipped, was clean, the owners were very nice and prepared to give some extra service. It is really a "home from home" and I will certainly revisit the cottage.

About the neighbourhood
The West Lothian region has numerous places of interest to visit, all within easy reach from Goose Cottage so you are sure to find something for everyone to enjoy. There are many areas of historical significance such as Cairnpapple, a prehistoric burial ground, and Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots which has a magnificent lochside location. Hopetoun House also deserves a mention as Scotland's finest stately home set in 150 acres of parkland. The local Country Parks offer great walks in lovely scenery. One of the best is Beecraigs which has a deer park, fishing loch, play park with separate toddler friendly area and extensive woodland. The Almond Valley Heritage Centre is a fantastic day out for the family with a farm, several outdoor and indoor play-areas, train and museum all in one location. For a spot of retail therapy Livingston has a great designer outlet centre called MacArthur Glen. With so many attractions and activities on offer, we hope this is a destination you'll want to return to again and again.
