Spacious home big enough for full family
House was well equipped for our big family we all had a great weekend. House was big enough to accommodate us all apart from the kitchen it was a bit of a squeeze but we made it work. Would have preferred the house to be a bit cleaner but nothing we couldn’t have cleaned ourselves to get to our own standards. Beds was comfortable pillows not so much but didn’t put us off. Owners were very accommodating we would definitely return.

Fantastic house
We stayed in Cameron house Easter weekend with family and had a fab time. We were 11 adults and 2 small children and there was plenty of room for everyone. Will definitely try to come back.

Tired, dirty, disappointing and dangerous
If you want stained carpets, wonky curtain poles with frayed curtains, little hanging space, a dirty oven, blocked shower, broken cistern, basins with no plugs, fire extinguisher and first aid kit pushed to the back of the undersink cupboard, cigarette ends and empty booze bottles outside the back door, cracked sinks, used teatowels and stained scotchbrite pads then Cameron House, Auchtermuchty is definitely the place for you. Forget the "grand Georgian Mansion" and "stunning antique furnishings" and think student accommodation and you won't be disappointed. The photos on websites - AirBnB etc- bear little resemblance to what greets you. And they have the cheek to ask for a cleaning fee of £220!! Will be reporting to Fife Council and asking for priority inspection asap for possible breaches of fire and safety legislation P.s forgot the dirty oven, a cupboard full of half packets of foods several years past their BBE dates, trailing cables as not enough sockets

This group has been black mailing us for a free stay. I've refused to give in for blackmail. They decided to trash us with unfair comments. Here is our response to all the unfair comment. "We would like to respond to a recent review that was left on our public listing, which we feel is unfair and inaccurate. Firstly, we would like to clarify that the customer in question had visited our property one day before check-in and had taken extensive photos of every detail in the house, and commented that the house was beyond her expectation. This is important to note because it suggests that the review may have been premeditated. We appreciate the feedback that has been left on our property. However, we would like to clarify that the guest in question did not have any previous successful bookings or reviews, and did not have a verified headshot on their profile. Unfortunately, we foolishly agreed to their booking and have learned from our mistake. The customer claimed that the property was a major disappointment and that there were numerous faults with it. However, we feel that many of the complaints were unfounded and exaggerated. For example, the customer claimed that there were cigarette butts and empty bottles at the door, but this is simply not true. We have a strict policy against smoking in the house and we ensure that our cleaning team removes rubbish in the house before guests arrive. In regards to the customer's concerns about fire safety, we would like to state that we take this issue very seriously. We have conducted a fire risk assessment within the last 6 months, and we have taken all necessary steps to ensure that our guests are safe during their stay. We have installed new fire alarms and a fire extinguisher that has been separately tested by electricians with certificates issued within the last 12 months (documents were doodled over by previous guests' children). We have also installed self-closing door mechanisms which was not required by AirBnb but was introduced as an extra step of safe, secondary glazing all with indication for guests to pull to open in case of fire, and safety access on both levels. Additionally, all of our furniture has fire labels. Two fire extinguisher in the kitchen (not sure why someone may find the best practice of storing under kitchen sink unacceptable), one fire extinguisher in the living room. We take pride in providing a safe environment for our guests. Furthermore, the customer claimed that there were stains on the carpets, but failed to mention that during her visit before her holiday started, we especially showed her the stain and explained it to her due to lack of vacancy, we had to have a rug specifically placed to cover the stained area until the next gap. The customer also complained about the lighting in the house, we welcome anybody questioning about our lighting walk in to our house and to see for themselves. We have expensive bronze chandeliers with crystals in nearly every room with the function of three level of different bright white/warm/warm white lighting. In addition to this, we also had 3 remote touch lights with Bluetooth speaker functions. Candles were never supplied not supposed to be used in the house. It has come to our attention that some of the details in the review were copied from previous reviews which were no longer applicable, and we are disappointed that this has been done. We always take all feedback seriously and have been constantly updating the house! For example we have updated the cutlery sections twice in the last 6 months time to ensure a high standard of cleanliness and functionality. During the guest's stay, no issues were brought to our attention apart from the drainage, which our team promptly solved. The guests stayed through happily without any issue, not until the payout day. We take all feedback seriously, and are constantly reinvesting any profit back in the house. The house had not making any profit since we run it because of the continued projects. It is not only disheartening but heartbroken to receive a review like this. If the photos do not represent the truth about the house, please see the following videos for yourself if the review has done us justice.

A place to make memories
We had booked Cameron House for a family celebration of my husband's 70th birthday. What a great decision! It is a beautiful old house with an interesting history and great character, full of nooks and crannies which kept the grandchildren entertained for hours playing hide and seek. The rooms are large and comfortably furnished, the beds really comfy and everything was extremely clean and tidy. Even the fact that there are only 2 bathrooms for 7 bedrooms wasn't a problem and there were never any bathroom queues. The new owner is simply lovely, she went out of her way to bring us a new router when we couldn't get the WiFi to work and couldn't have been more helpful. The fact that she was so approachable and nearby meant we were able to relax and enjoy our stay knowing that any issues would be dealt with (there weren't any). I can't recommend Cameron House highly enough if you're planning a family gathering. We're already thinking about another trip there in the Spring. It really is a place to make very special memories.

Great space for family fun!
We had 10 adults and 8 kids aged 3-9 staying at this former b&b for a long weekend in July and had a brill time! The house has really big rooms so there was loads of space - nobody felt like they couldn't get a quiet moment when needed. Great big lounge upstairs and walls thick enough not to wake the kids late in the evening. Only the dining room was cramped but fitted 16 plus one on the end. I can't think of many properties that do better though. In the room with the "double bed" the bed is more like 1.5 width than full double - I ended up sleeping in another room with some of the kids to get a good sleep. But all the others were great and as described. No jacklocs on the sash windows e.g. in the bedrooms, so take care with the kids - maybe the owner could consider that please? Kitchen was well stocked with pans, teatowels, cutlery and implements. Washing matching, drier, freezer, 2 fridges, microwave, gas hob, elec oven, dishwasher. All sinks had soap provided, as were towels for all. Lots of steps up and down even on the same floor of this old property so not wheelchair accessible. Parking for 5 mid-sized to small cars at a squeeze, but there is a free car park 2 mins walk away once you have unloaded your bags. Bbq and picnic table in the small garden, though not space for our whole group out there (no probs though, it rained at dinner time so we ate inside!) Thank you! It was just what we needed.

A spacious experience with a very accomodating host!
This was a fantastic weekend in Auchtermuchty thanks to Adele and her home. We made full use of the facilities and space, and a few requests were granted by Adele with no hesitation and a very quick response. The living and sleeping space in Cameron House is very sizable and just what you need for a large group of friends enjoying a wedding weekend! Adele took the time to wish my friends being wed good luck on their special day and gave me a heads up on everything I needed to know as the organizer of our stay. I would book Cameron House again for a similar occasion and would recommend it, particularly to a large group who plan on spending time in the home eating, drinking and catching up!

Auchtermuchty NY 2019
We had a fabulous stay in Cameron House, Auchtermuchty bringing in the bells 2019. The house is very quirky with high ceilings and period features and was perfect for our party (8 adults and 8 children (ages 3-10) - with rooms to spare!). The owner Adele was a perfect host with quick responses to our queries prior to arrival. With a little money spent the house could be very grand indeed, however, you would expect to pay a lot more to rent. We would highly recommend and am sure will book again in the future.

Disappointed
We stayed here for two nights would not recommend it, the living room had old dusty sofas and smelled musty. The shower kept getting blocked and came up through the shower, the owner did come out right away and knew what to do as she got her jetter out and fixed it the first time it happened this must be an ongoing problem. None of the adult party sat in the living room or took a shower couldn’t wait to leave and go home for a shower and to a fresh clean house. Very disappointed.

Great value for money - very nice place
Very enjoyable, relaxed 2 night stay - more than big enough for 19 of us. The rooms are massive with lovely fireplaces, and the decor suits the age of the house. Nothing too fancy but absolutely perfect for a family get together. House has loads of character. Will def be visiting again if Cameron House remains on the rental market - great value for money

30th Birthday weekend
Myself and 13 of my closest family and friends stayed at Cameron House for 2 nights. The house is perfect for entertaining and partying. The house is clean, the lounge is comfortable and there is more than enough seating for all guests in both the dining room and the lounge and the kitchen is well stocked. I cannot fault Adele the owner, she was accommodating and responded to any queries all most immediately. Would most definitely go back! Thank you 😊 and look forward to my next visit to Cameron House.

About the neighbourhood
Located 7 miles west of Cupar, and 4 miles south of Newburgh, Auchtermuchty was famed in ancient times for its wild boar and was once the site of a Roman camp. Its name however comes from Gaelic, referring to the large population of wild boar in the surrounding swamps and woods that were hunted. Today the streets have an olde-worlde feel, with thatched roofs, crow-stepped gables and the red pantile roofs characteristic of the towns and villages throughout Fife.
