Do not hesitate to book this cottage! This absolutely deserves 5 stars, the location is stunning, one mile from Cadair Idris paths, few mins into town and main roads out of Dolgellau, the comfort and facilities within this cottage is everything you need. And the gardens and setting is beautiful. I stayed here on my own with my pooch. Dexter loved the gardens and watching the sheep (safely from this side of the fence!) it’s open plan and so comfy, the bed is really comfortable and it’s silent and dark at night. The bath is much needed after a day of walking, which can be done straight out the front door. The owners are really helpful and approachable. There is nothing I can fault here just that I’m sad to have had to go home and will be trying to book again as soon as it is available! The weather was stunning so I didn’t even get to use the log fire but I can imagine how much more cosy it would be sitting by the flames! That’ll be a winter break for me. Please try foxes path up to lake gadair up part of Cadair Idris, and turn left out of the lane and drive to the national trust lakes and mountains through the gates along the lane. All gorgeous sneaky places to walk and rest by. Thank you to the owners for looking after this property so well and thinking of everything you could possibly need to enjoy a peaceful, tranquil break!

I am too fussy for my own good and I have stayed in many desirable properties over the last few years. But Penclogwynau (this property) sets the standard for me. The secure gardens are a joy to behold, in their well-managed natural state. The gardens feel much bigger than they look in online photos, and they have got very pleasing contours. Once you close the gate, you are in your own, peaceful, secluded, beautiful little world here. The first thing I could not help doing as soon as I arrived in the car, was to simply gaze around the breathtaking 360-degree surroundings. I was laughing to myself with awe and delight - in fact I could have wept with joy - at what I'd had the good fortune to find here. The cottage lacks nothing, even down to a generous supply of top-grade fuel for the solid fuel burner. The owner even points you towards a You Tube based guide to preparing, lighting and managing a good fire. Which was great for me, as I'd always ducked the whole 'get the fir lit' issue up until now. The wet room downstairs is brilliant. I chose that room ahead of either of the upstairs bathrooms for my main scrub-up. But the other bathrooms are fine for all one's ablutions too - I just like the wet room a lot. So did our big Goldendoodle!

The most amazing place, location is fantastic if you like getting away from it all but still close to the town. The view's from the cottage are breathtaking . The cottage itself is beautiful and very clean, very cosy. Our dog Bella loved the garden. We were lucky we had lovely weather all week but I think even if it had rained it still would have been amazing. Its definitely the nicest place we have ever stayed, It was our first time in North Wales but it won't be our last, it's beautiful . Also the team at best if wales were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

Such lovely comments, thank you and really pleased that Bella was happy too. North Wales has lots to offer and lots to see and do, if you like walking or just grabbing a coffee and soaking up the scenery this is the place to be. For the more adventurous there are mountains to climb, caves to explore and so much more. Hope to see you soon and the guys in Best of Wales are pleased to help you select the perfect cottage. Best Wishes Suzanne

Cottage just outside Dolgellau - beautiful old building which has been very sympathetically modernised to a very high standard with one big room downstairs and two generous double bedrooms. Then a wet room, bathroom and en suite - brilliant! It was cold during our stay (snow on the hills) and we loved the wood burner (with all the fuel provided) plus the underfloor heating. We walked every day both from the cottage and in the local area - stunning; Cadar Idris was the highlight on a glorious day. We did all our shopping in the town - good butcher, two bakers, deli plus supermarket.

Lovely cottage with enclosed garden, well equipped and plenty of space for 4 adults. The downstairs shower room is handy for muddy dogs and people too. The only thing is if you have limited mobility the stair are very narrow and steep. Would love to book again for next year, I just hope they switch agents (long story) if you want a relaxing holiday in a wonderful cottage with walking on your doorstop this cottage is a very good choice.
