Interaction with guests
The owner is available on arrival to show guests around and to give the keys . We live in a neighbouring property about 70 metres away but the chalet grounds which are private and separate from the main house .From the chalet site guests have uninterrupted views of the Cader Idris mountain range to the south and west . The other directions are woodland . The owners are available to deal with any on site problems but otherwise maintain a low profile and allow guests to enjoy this very special place for themselves .

Wow, what a stunning location! We had an amazing 6 night stay and really didn't want to leave. Set in the most peaceful and serene countryside that you could ever imagine, yet just 5 minutes drive from the nearest well stocked shops and a 20 minute drive to the beach. The mountain biking mecca that is Coed y Brenin is just 20 minutes away too. The garden is stunning, with beautiful views whichever way you look. It's also visited regularly by deer. The lodge itself is basic, but equipped with everything you need. Richard met us upon arrival, and was at hand whenever we needed him for advice about the local area. We can't wait to get back there again sometime in the near future, it really was a little slice of heaven for us.

We were delighted with our stay at this chalet. The area is beautiful and the land the chalet sits on is well maintained with a pond, firepit, the ruins of an old stone building, all surrounded by forest; it really makes the experience magical. Useful information was provided in folders about local attractions and restaurants, which made it easy to choose what to do, as well as helpful tips and information about the chalet itself. The owners were lovely and helpful and the chalet was clean and tidy. The chalet was easy to find and accessible with a quick call to Richard, the owner. Thank you for our stay.

Amazing little find! The chalet itself is a good sixe, with all the equipment you'll need, and is light and airy. Loads of outside space, including a great firepit, water feature and barb b que. The setting is what will win you over. Only 3 miles outside of Dolgellau, with the most amazing views of Cader Idris, it is a lovely, quiet and peaceful setting! Dog and kid friendly, with great beaches 25 minutes away, we will definetly be back!

The garden around the chalet with its water features, lawns, flowers, birds, etc., its situation on the hillside close to woods and the views over to Cadair Idris are all really lovely. The lambs in the field as we drove up to the chalet gave us a cheerful welcome. Host Richard was also welcoming and friendly. The chalet itself is fairly basic but provided us (a couple in our 70's) with all we needed for an enjoyable break.

We were constantly monitored by the owner and he approached us on a number of occasions about what we should and should not do. We left two days earlier as we found the experience of being spied upon intolerable. It ruined our holiday

Well I guess there’s a flip side to every story and as this is the first thoroughly negative review we have received over the last 8 years I feel obliged to offer some explanation . This party of 4 were our first guests post-lockdown and we were only permitted to let the property under strict regulations . When they invited an additional four adult guests to share the space with them on Saturday evening I felt I had to remind them that the chalet only caters for four people not eight . The leader of the party said he understood and asked that they just have a barbecue outside . Rather than spoil their evening I said this would be ok but that guests had to stay outside . Half an hour later I noticed smoke coming from the deck area of the chalet and had to ask them to move their disposable barbecues away from the all-wooden , dry and flammable chalet to the designated fire pit area complete with logs , grill , tongs etc . At the same time I asked the leader of the party to make sure that the fire was out at the end of the evening before retiring . I have to say at this point that I was concerned and when I took the dog out at around nine o clock I did a quick check to see if all was well . I found the fire still burning outside and everyone else inside the chalet despite them being specifically told not to share the internal space . I knocked the door and reminded the party leader and his wife that this was not permitted and that their 4 guests would have to leave . The leader then became belligerent and accused me of ruining their holiday . When I pointed out the Covid regulations his reply of “yes but who will know ? “ tells you all you need to know about their regard for rules and regulations . I contacted Trip Advisor the next morning and they sent a warning to the leader pointing out his obligations as a guest in the property . They also said I we were perfectly within our rights to terminate the holiday on the spot . It was however the party who decided to leave of their own accord next morning and and I would respectfully suggest that rather than blaming me for ruining their holiday that he should perhaps look at his own part in events leading to this point . We are not in the habit of monitoring our guests in any way , one of the things people really appreciate about the space is the seclusion and peace it offers . We generally only interact with guests at arrival and I think they appreciate being left to enjoy the space on their own . On the plus side the chalet was left beautifully clean and tidy the next day .

This is a great base for touring mid Wales . Shut away in the Beautiful countryside with no one to bother you . The cabin has a lovely garden if you have children or a dog to enjoy . It is fairly basic but with everything you need and although we didn’t have great weather I could imagine on a warm evening sitting round the fire pit with family having a bbq would be lovely

We had a lovely week staying at Ty Cerrig. The lodge was lovely and had all we needed. The kids loved the little pond and stream behind the lodge, ideal for afternoon pond dipping and exploring! The firepit was a great addition and perfect for late evening toasted marshmallows. We found some beautiful spots very nearby for lovely walks and adventures. The weather was a little against us but we still managed to get out to the local woods, beaches and towns. Dollgellau has everything you need, including supermarkets, bars, restaurants and a kids playground! We hope to return one day.
