BOOKING NOW OPEN FROM 1 APRIL 2019 ONWARDS The Deck at Rough Pastures is a self-contained apartment overlooking the Wye Valley and close to the Forest of Dean the land of Myths and Legends. The house is set in 5 acres of woodland and garden with fantastic walks, cycle rides, bird watching, and views. Our Bluebell woods are fantastic in spring. Located on the Historic Welsh border, it is a part of the main house which is built around a several hundred years old cottage, standing on the site of the battle of Craig-Y-Dorth (Circa 1404). The area is designated “of Outstanding Natural Beauty”. It is in easy reach of a number of Castles and Ruins including Raglan and Chepstow Castles as well as the famous Tintern Abbey. BOOKING NPW OPEN - We do not let The Deck over the winter so it is closed 1st October 2018 to 28th March 2019. However, we can take advance bookings for the summer of 2019 during that time. PLEASE NOTE that the Sofa Bed is really only suitable for 2 children. We welcome all guests personally but allow them full privacy during their stay. We can suggest places of interest and activity possibilities if you want. You are free to wander through the grounds as you wish.

The Deck is a lovely quiet venue surrounded by amazing scenery and wildlife. Everything is included for a comfortable stay and even in the last week in September, I was able sit outside on the deck every day. There are lots of places to visit...More

A great place for a get away. Perfect accommodation for 2 people. Very peaceful, fantastic wildlife and views. High standard of cleanliness and comfort. Carole was very welcoming and there was plenty of tourist info in the apartment.

Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in South Wales. With historic buildings such as Tintern Abbey, Raglan Castle. The area is rich in walks and many and varied sports facilities including the nearby Celtic Manor Golf Course. The Welsh capital city Cardiff is about 40 minutes drive and the M4 motorway is on 20 minutes way. Monmouth is the county town boasting fine dining and quaint high street shopping.

The rural area really needs a self drive car. The nearest Bus and rail stations include Chepstow, Newport or Abergavenny.
