My husband, son, and I stayed a couple of nights on the farm in the cottage. The drive in is scenic and ideal to get away from it all. Arriving at the property, it is breathtaking! It’s far more beautiful than any picture in the post would allow you to believe. The cottage used to be a vegetable cellar on the farm, made into a charming 2 bedroom, 1 full bath stay. I saw reviews about low ceilings and uneven floors however, it’s not problematic at all, or wasn’t for us. The kitchen and living room is super comfy, practical- with everything you would need to cook or eat a meal brought back from town, and kick your feet up to read or for some tv. We met Tony and he was extremely nice! The communication between he and I and Sarah was convenient and kind. The cottage is right behind the farm house where the owners live, however, it get private and we got to enjoy the outdoor areas and have coffee in the mornings on the portico in the swing with no outside noises or interference. They left fishing poles for my son to show us how it’s done, allowed us to use the ponds to fish, and we got to feed their horses apples. This was a new experience for my husband and son. We saw deer, song birds, a family of fox, rabbits- my son called it better than Disney. 😂 I know this is already a long review but we had such an amazing time, we plan to come back! Tony gave us free range to walk the property of the farm, we loved traveling around Bedford and Lynchburg, and we certainly appreciate the details like leaving us a goodie basket and fresh cut flowers. Thank you, Mayhew family for a wonderful time on your beautiful farm!
