The DeHart Cabin c.1860, is our only 2+ bedroom cabin. The main room, the original cabin, is a 'all-in-one' with walnut and chestnut logs, a fireplace of river stone, a sleeper sofa, kitchenette, antique farm dining table and sideboard. Overhead is the 'loft' with drop down stairs for an adventurous youngster. The loft, seldom used by modern folks, would have slept an entire family in 1860. The main bedroom has a Q bed, antique dresser and double french doors opening onto a private deck with seasonal views of the Maury River. The front bedroom has a Full bed with a 1917 solid brass frame. There is an additional Single bed in a small side room ideal for a child or younger person. Our stay in the DeHart cabin was just fantastic! Although built in 1860, it was very well appointed and extremely comfortable. We loved everything - the layout (one floor and all opening on to a center living room / kitchen), the kitchen, the fireplace (the BEST fireplace!), the location. Lots of hiking and walking opportunities, easy to get to lovely Lexington but the best was walking under the stars or sitting in front of the fire. We went with friends who stayed at other cabins and shared wonderful meals and evening games. We will definitely return to this beautiful place.

My husband and I booked the DeHart cabin just outside of Lexington for a long weekend. We adored everything about the cabin and the setting, and were thrilled to find a pet-friendly option. The only issue we encountered was the rat poison left under the beds in two guest rooms, which our dog found immediately upon arrival. We hope in the future the host will warn guests bringing pets of the rat poison, or remove it prior to their arrival. We have already recommended the cabin to friends!

Hello Anna Mae, We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay at our DeHart Cabin. It has been a guest favorite for many years. Thank you for your feedback about the mouse deterrent. Maintaining a barrier between our guests and an occasional field mouse seeking warmth can be challenging this time of year. Though effective, we are already looking for ways that are more "green" and family friendly. The safety of our guests both 2-legged and 4-legged is of utmost importance to us. We hope to welcome your family again to our "piece of Shenandoah heaven". Each season has its gifts to explore here on the farm:)

I have to say, we we're a bit disappointed in our rental. After picking up the rental keys at the office, we got to the cabin only to find out they gave us the wrong keys. So, I had to make a call and have them bring keys that worked. Upon entering the cabin, we realized that it was definitely more rustic inside than what we thought it would be from the cabin pics on the website. The front bedroom smelled like a mouse had died in it, there was a very strong foul odor. We were told that stinkbugs had been a problem this year. Stink bugs, dead mouse, who knows. As we sat down for dinner Saturday night a huge mouse scurried from under the couch and went under the kitchen refrigerator ( a refrigerator that was barely cold inside). The look on our faces was priceless. The water pressure in the shower was almost nonexistent. The back door deadbolt would not lock. So, overall, I guess it was a step above camping in a tent. Don't think I'll be going there again.

Dear Guest, I am so sorry your stay with us was not as hoped. I wanted you to know we value your feedback and make every effort to provide a safe, welcoming and peaceful stay for each guest. All of the issues that were raised have been addressed starting with the replacing of all locks on the cabin. We do appreciate you alerting us to the water pressure issue. Upon investigation, we found that one of the underground pipes had broken... a first in thirteen years. It was fixed immediately. Please know that this was not a usual guest experience. We have consistently received rave reviews for many years with steady guests returning year after year. Best, Management Team

My daughter and son were the ring bearer and flower girl in a wedding at Big Spring Farm. We needed accommodations for three nights and three bedrooms. We are so happy we found this amazing cabin! The kids loved it and it felt so much more like home than a hotel! The kids could run around outside while we cooked dinner on the grill. The location is great with rivers to swim in near by as well as trails. The kids did not want to leave! It was such a peaceful retreat compared to the hustle and bustle of the city we live in!

My husband and I had previously stayed at one of the other cabins owned by these people on the same farm. WE enjoyed ourselves so much we decided to return but stay in a different cabin. We were not disappointed. This one is just as quaint but larger. It has a wonderful, private back deck we took advantage of. My husband is in the military and is stationed away from home, so we really enjoyed the fact that we could cook our meals together, just like at home. The kitchen lacked for nothing. Again, there was a lovely bottle of wine waiting for us on arrival. The peace and quiet is soothing. We fell so much in love with this cabin that we plan on staying here for some together time in the fall, just before he deploys for one year. That should tell you how much we love it here.

So glad you returned to us and tried another wonderful historical cabin. DeHart Cabin is my family's favorite when they come to visit. Nothing like stargazing with the grandchildren on the back deck:) We look forward to welcoming you again. Warmest Regards, Lesley Management Team
