What an amazing & simply awesome time our entire Family had while staying at this gorgeous house & grounds! There was plenty of room to safely roam around the property & each room had very comfortable beds! We also rented the separate cottage, right by the house, which was an adorable unit! The kitchen was well stocked, plus had 2 refrigerators & freezers we used to the brim!! Everything was even more enjoyable as we all sat outside, while enjoying breakfasts & dinners out on the lanai. The 2 pools & hot tub were inviting too. It was like we were in a meticulously cared for “landscaped” jungle. Loved hearing the late nite song birds & the early morning roosters & chickens. There was even a cow with his flock of goats on the 5 acre property! We enjoyed several beaches near & far away & snorkling. It helped that there was a lot of beach towels inside & snorkling gear, boogie boards, etc. in the outside shed! Loved having a separate bathroom right near the pools too. Speaking of pools, they were both alittle more “refreshing” than I would have liked…but we still enjoyed them immensely! Like I said in the beginning of this review, it was like swimming in a landscaped jungle … gorgeous trees, flowers & lots of birds singing & cherping throughout each day & night ! It helped that the hottub was right there too!! Oh and the pool table inside was fun for everyone! Perhaps a ping pong table too?? One tip…bring more laundry detergent. Although they provided some, we did a lot of loads of towels, beach towels & clothes!
We can’t thank you enough, Tina! You were wonderful to talk over the phone, from start to finish! And, the Caretaker, Terry, was most attentive & helpful throughout our stay. Whatever we needed, Terry was there to help make it happen!
If you’re looking for an awesome Family reunion home, this is the place to rent! If ever coming to Kona again, we def will rent this house again!! So awesome to feel so relaxed in such a beautiful setting! Mahalo!

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful home. The highlight was the magnificent property, the pool and hot tub, and the animals. The owner was very nice and helpful but we were set and didn't need anything additional. Would stay here again.
Thank you, The Grover Group

We had a fabulous time! The house was perfect for our large family. Grounds were perfect. The kitchen was a dream to cook in and had all the equipment needed to keep everyone well fed. Our only complaint was the pools were freezing and we never were able to use them. Also the downstairs toilet ran constantly and my son is a plumber and said he’d fix it if they bought a rebuild kit but they didn’t. They looked at it though.
I would highly recommend this rental for your large group!

The house worked great for our family gathering to celebrate my mom’s 80th birthday. The grounds are beautiful and it was fun to meet the sheep, goats and bull which are in pastures nearby.
The house was clean and and we didn’t have a problem with insects. The kitchen is very well-equipped, we found every utensil we needed.
Beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of seating at the indoor and outdoor tables, although some additional comfortable seating indoors would be nice to have.
As noted in the description the pools are unheated. It was unusually rainy during our stay so they were quite chilly. However the hot tub balanced that out.
Be aware that you will wake up to roosters and fall asleep to coqui frogs. Charming for some, not so welcome for light sleepers.
Lastly, the caretaker Didi was very helpful and informative. Many thanks to her for helping us to have a very enjoyable stay!

ALOHA!!! We traveled with a group of 12 and stayed at this property. We were privileged to use the guest cottage for an additional bedroom and bath. There was plenty of sleeping space for all and in fact we didn't even need all of the beds that were set up! This wad a nice retreat for our party of 12 which included 6 children. There were plenty of pool tools, board games, and books to entertain the kids. The views of the sunset were breathtaking from the back of the property. You can see the ocean in the distance. The kitchen is spacious and several people can move about and cook at the same time. The oven is a separate oven and takes a little longer to cook so just prepare for that. The kitchen is stocked with everything you would need and some seasonings too so check before you go grocery shopping. The animals on the property are interesting to watch and did not interfere with any plans. The roosters will be you be your natural alarm clock. You will be surprised how quiet it gets in the evenings but it's very relaxing. We would definitely stay here again if we get a chance to visit the Big Island again. Mahalo!

A beautiful estate with everything a family could want. Outstanding ocean view from around 1800 feet on the mountain. Plenty of room for 9 (my party) and we still had a room to spare. On site caretaker who is easy to reach by text. She was often seen doing chores around the estate. Big open spaces inside and out for family get togethers. The house has all things needed for a pool or beach day. All we needed to buy was food. Fantastic deal for size of property and amenities. I lived on Oahu for 6 years so I can speak for experience.
Now, just a few items for future renters. It is on a mountain. The weather is different at 1800 feet versus at the beach. May be raining on the mountain and sunny at the beach. It is about 20 minutes from Kailua-Kona. It does rain more often on the mountain. And it will occasionally downpour. The house does have a driveway over a dry creek bed. When it downpours that dry creek bed can become impassable via walking or car. It may be infrequent but it did happen to us. We were stuck at the home from 5pm-10pm. We had food so no big deal, except missing reservation. However, if you were out and wanted to come back to the house, you would have been stuck until after 10 to get back in. It may happen infrequently but if it happens to you, then it doesn't feel infrequent. As mentioned, the pools are beautiful but cold. It you aren't used to living on a farm with animals that make noises it can be eye-opening. We live on a farm so a rooster crowing at 5 am is normal. Communication with the owner was not good. She does not answer VBRO messages. I did not get any feedback from her about the property until after I made the downpayment. At that time, she did send a telephone number, She does not answer texts. She did state to call her but when I am 6 hours ahead it is not often best to call. There was also no welcome letter about check in procedures. I did call when we arrived to the island and she called back. I am an owner of VBRO and so I understand how many messages we receive. We do always try to answer them in a timely manner so that was surprising.
However, none of that should take away from this beautiful property. It was immaculate and well worth the price. I know it can seem like a shock when you used to Hawaii prices but believe me they could charge more easily. I would highly recommend, especially if you are a large party. Perfect for a family reunion after the pandemic. (our situation). Truly is a special property.

This is an amazing place. For a week we had 17 people ranging in age from 80 to 9. The next week we were down to 9. The kids enjoyed the pool and hot tub everyday before and after going to the beach The house was spacious and accommodated everyone. We also used the adjacent cottage for one son and his family to stay. The pool table was used by all and the veranda was a great place to eat morning and night. The house was very clean and the pool shed had anything you needed for the beach. Tina the owner was great telling us places to see and beaches to go to. I certainly rate this a great place for a family vacation with enough room for everyone to enjoy themselves.

The property isn’t horrible, but wasn’t worth the 13k we spent. First of all the property was listed for 16 guests but after booking we were contacted by the property manager and informed that the cesspool wasn’t sufficient for the 15 people we had in our group and asked to try to flush every other pee. Upon arrival there was no hot water so we had to have the property manager check the propane, throughout the trip hot water would come and go. Woke up the first night to find something chewed through and ate our hotdog buns, were told this was a new issue. Requested a tote for our dry foods, however on the 3rd night something chewed through a plastic container with cookies in it, butter was eaten off the counter. The next evening we had a rat jump out of the bbq when we went to get our ribs off to eat. Property manager left us traps so WE could catch it! Again we were told that this hasn’t been an issue with previous guests. We set up cameras to catch the rodent and were able to show her proof.
The sliding doors are not connected on the wall sides and can be slid open which can not only allow rodents in but also leaves home unsecure.
Upstairs master bathroom sink leaks and we had to empty a bucket underneath daily.
We were not welcomed with complimentary water, coffee or anything. House had one roll of toilet paper per bathroom, 1 roll of paper towels, a couple trash bags and we were responsible for any additional we needed for our 15 guests on a 10 day reservation. A contract was left for us to sign on arrival informing us of when trash was to be taken out to the end of the long driveway (no wheels on cans) and that towels were to be washed, dried, folded and put away. We were also responsible for removing bed linen (not comforters) and putting in laundry room. Do comforters not get washed?
Pool is beautiful but cold. Notes on walls informing guests of costs if things were broken.
We were told we would be compensated for the rodent issue and our inconveniences however we have yet to see the refund.
Could be an amazing property with more care and better management.

This was a great house for our party of 8 plus an infant. Plenty of rooms for us all to have our own space. A fantastic view from the lanai, which is where we spent most of our time together. If you're looking for something very modern and sleek, this is maybe not for you. But we loved the animals on site and even had enough sun (for the Kona hillside) to use the pool a few times. Loved that it was a bit cool at night and in the morning. Very central for being up in elevation, 15 minutes to Alii Drive and a few beaches/grocery.
