Aloha, the 'Hawaiian Dream Temple' is your best choice for taking your vacation to the next level of serenity as you relax and unwind on the large wrap-around deck in your own private hot tub and admire the tropical flowers and vibrant fauna. Listening to the birds while relaxing on the lanai will be your favorite part of the day.
Perfect for romantic and private honeymoons, the interior is constructed of all hand woven bamboo, and with an open air plan, the ceilings and walls allow for tropical breezes to flow throughout the home. The living room is a vaulted Asian style ceiling and the kitchen is fully appointed with appliances and cooking utensils, as well as tea, and coffee.
Both bedrooms have queen-sized beds and a private lanai (Hawaiian for deck) with beautiful seating areas for morning relaxation or evening reading. The bathroom has an over-sized, deep Jacuzzi tub, plus a shower.
As a guest of the cottage, the owner has graciously extended use of his family pool so you'll have shared access to the amazing 40-foot fresh water swimming pool - located a quick 3 minute walk down the drive next to the main house. Designed with an Asian theme in mind, this tropical pool oasis has palm trees swaying in the breeze, creating the perfect place to let your stresses slip away. A lava rock waterfall gurgles next to a shaded balinese meditation gazebo that overlooks a bridge that spans the deep end and 1-foot-deep swimming moats for small kids.
The homeowners welcome you with Aloha and are passionate about creating a special space for your precious time away from it all!
THE LOCATION
The cottage is completely private and very much separate from the main house. You have your own large yard, private gated driveway and parking area. Situated away from the commercial and 'touristy' areas in the 'Upcountry' of Tropical Haiku, you'll be close to waterfalls, hiking trails, zip lining adventures, horseback riding, cycling routes, and Haleakala crater.
If you're interested in enjoying activities close to home, inquire about hiking to a local waterfall or participating in sound healing sessions with the on-site manager, Guia. The community pool is also available when you prefer to relax by the water.
The cottage is 15 minutes from beaches, the quaint surf town of Paia, and 10 minutes from the upcountry town of Makawao. Even closer is the world famous Ho'okipa beach with its legendary surf break and some of the best windsurfing, kite boarding, & surfing in Hawaii.
You don’t need to walk anywhere to experience the stunning beauty as you drive along the 'Road to Hana' (Highway 360) for fabulous views of the world famous Maui coastline.
After exciting Hawaiian adventures, dine at some of Maui’s best seafood restaurants, like Hawaii's top-rated Mama's Fish House Restaurant, just minutes from the house!

This was an amazing place to stay! The location was within an hour and 15 minutes of most towns and beaches that we wanted to explore. It was great to be out of town. Peaceful, quiet and tranquil!

Spacious Secluded Gated Countryside Maui Retreat
Perfect for a couple (or couple of couples) or a family needing its space, a tropical garden oasis convenient to Haiku, Paia or beautiful upcountry Maui and Haleakala. Just 30 minutes' drive from Kahului and "big box" shopping needs or 45 mins from the superb beaches at Makena. 'Cottage' is being a little modest, there's two bedrooms each with added dressing areas, private lanais, plenty of outlets... the bath is spacious, solid and roomy, as is the kitchen, with a large wrap-around patio for drying out coolers, towels, beach gear, grilling and the like -- with a very nice four person hot tub always at the ready, and boy did we like that! Nice clean appliances (you're going to need that laundry room), utensils, dishes etc. invite you to cook your own meals and take a break from eating out or endless starchy Hawai'i to-go food (the fresh poke at the local Haiku Market was addicting). Great places to eat, shop or swim nearby, and further afield--a car is a must. And the gardens! If you like tropical plants, landscaping or water features, you'll appreciate how much thought and works went into the grounds. The decor is a standout, not many home--even in Hawaii--feature actual round house / hale design and rattan walls. It all comes off as classy cozy beach bungalow. Everything worked as described--the locks, WiFi, hot water, fans, comfy beds... if I had to give some incidental downsides, it would be some occasional gecko poo (NOwhere on Maui is safe from that) or shower moth. Owner Paul and property contact Guia were prompt, helpful, friendly and nice to talk with. We hope to come back!

Great alternative to the over developed tourist beach areas.
Convenient to road to Hana. Nice relaxing private hot tub. Great place for family with two bedrooms and a pull out futon couch.

Beautiful well equipped unique home for families in the rainforest
This house is very cool. Gives you a good vibe and a feeling of "off the beaten track" which is hard to get in Maui. We loved the Hot tub at the end of all those rainy days, BBQ was fun, very comfortable for 4 and OK for 6. Clean and safe and quiet. Very nice for people that want to surf Paia or stay in the area. Not so good location for touring the whole island.

We are situated on a small, quiet road centrally located between Haiku and Makawao. It is only a 7 minute drive to Haiku town, where you have a great selection of quaint restaurants, cafes, yoga and fitness gym, grocery store, coffee shops, boutiques, massage , post office
We are a beautiful 15 minutes drive to Ho'okipa beach (surfing and snorkeling), and another 5 minutes from 5 other swimming and child friendly beaches- all surrounding the groovy beachy surf town of Paia. Paia hosts amazing dining choices and world class boutique shopping. Many shops rent surf boards, SUP's, and bikes for cycling the fun roads in Upcountry Maui.
It is only a 30 minute drive to the airport in Kahului, where you will find large department stores, Costco, and many restaurants.
