Originally an 1895 boarding house in the gold mining camp of Kiddville (long ago abandoned), the house was remodeled and turned into a private home/ranch in the 1930's. In 2007, the home was again remodeled and modernized. The original assay office, caretakers quarters, barn/corral, and cabins are yet on the 38 privately owned acres, 8 miles NW of Custer, SD on six miles of well maintained gravel road. Pet owner is responsible for any damages. CLOSED NOVEMBER THROUGH APRIL due to snow. The three bedrooms are on the second floor with the full bath. The main floor hosts the living room, kitchen, dining room, laundry area, porch, and small sun room. Upon request, a queen air bed can be provided on the main floor near the dining room. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds, the third bedroom has two twin beds. The Vacation Home is a modest, clean, friendly, down to earth ranch house, in an unbelievably beautiful, remote location. Convenience, comfort, and amazing hospitality! Looking forward to a return trip in the future!So much better than a motel. My son enjoyed the room to roam and we loved our evening by the firepit making smores and watching the stars!

The key will be in the porch when you arrive. Detailed driving directions to the home are provided. If guests prefer to be led in the first time, my parents, John and Kay, are available. They are also available if the guests has any questions/concerns while at the property. They live 5 miles from the home. The home has bedding/towels/generic soaps, condiments, and coffee provided.
