buon hotel!

Great place to stay in Pedasi
I stayed 4 nights at the Casa Loma Resort while on a fishing trip to Pedasi. North Americans Tom and John own the resort and the adjacent Pedasi Sport Club and have assembled an outstanding staff. The facilities are pleasant but not elegant. There is a refreshing swimming pool with lounge chairs and a comfortable restaurant/bar in the center of the complex. The restaurant is open for the complementary hot breakfast and for most dinners. My junior suite was spacious with a comfortable king bed, work table, couch and chairs. The wi-fi was strong and consistent. The air conditioner was quiet and effective. You need to know that the resort, and all of Pedasi, is about a mile from the nearest beach, so the fact that the resort has the only pool in Pedasi is a big plus. My purpose to be there was to explore the fishing and I couldn't have been better cared for. Reuben, the office manager arranged for everything, boat, tackle, guide, drinks and lunch, and was the transportation for the 5:30am departure. The Pedasi Sport Club bent over backwards to make the fishing happen for me, and did so for an amazingly low and affordable price. I caught lots and lots of fish, Yellow Fin Tuna, Cero, Dorado, Bonito. My breakfast cook/housekeeper, Nana, cooked and delivered to my room a Tuna lunch, even when the restaurant was closed. One afternoon, a 20 lb Dorado I caught was cooked on the bbq and shared with staff, guests, and neighbors. I'll stay here again.

Hi, Eric Thanks for the nice review, and I can say I'm always happy when the fishing works out as planned. This time of year can be tricky and Ruben and the captains have to work extra hard to make sure the boating/fishing is safe. The winds, as you now know, can be very harsh and the seas rough if you don't know where to tuck in for protection. And, I'll say that everyone enjoyed your catch. Thanks for being so generous. Come back again. Tom

Thank you very much for your review. We pride ourselves on providing great value lodging here in Pedasi (the prices can get a little crazy during the dry season). The room you chose was one of our Standard Rooms, so I think your assessment of it as basic, but clean is spot on. I apologize if the restaurant/bar staff appeared a bit too casual. I will point this out to the staff as another opportunity to improve. Thanks Tom

Comfortable and clean, with English speaking friendly and attentive staff.
My friends and I stayed for three days. Our room was comfortable, clean and air conditioned and we also had access to the adjoining co-owned Pedasi Sports Club pool and bar. Situated on the edge of town this was a cool tranquil haven with staff who spoke English and tried to accommodate our every need. A big "Gracias" to all of them.

Superfijne plek in Pedasi

Amazing place!
I just wrapped up a week long visit at Pedasi's Casa Loma and I can easily say that this wonderful quaint hotel was the highlight of my Panama visit! The spacious rooms were well appointed, the staff attentive, and hosts Tom and Judi could not have been more accommodating, offering advice and counsel on everything from where to have dinner to how to purchase a home in their adopted homeland! The outdoor rancho was the perfect spot to have morning coffee or to fix a light meal; the many hammocks offered the ideal spot from which to enjoy the lush grounds and the constant gentle breezes! I'm already planning my next trip back, and Casa Loma will serve as my home away from home in Panama!

good value and friendly host
we stayed in casa loma for 4 days in Nov. 2013 and had a superb time. The room ist rather a great apartment with large bathroom and 2 double and 1 single bed including a fridge. You can use the outside rancho to do some cooking and sit on the porch in the evening. Wonderful for a family but also for travellers. We,ve met the owner Tom and he gave us lots of help on finding this and that, Would love to go there again and the 5 beaches in he surrounding of pedasi are well worth a stay for a week.

Exceeded all expectations
This is a very comfortable place on the main street of Pedaci, just a few minutes walk from the center of town. Good restaurants on both sides and a bank across the street. The photos on their website depict the place quite accurately. Their large covered rancho provided an excellent outdoor setting that really enhanced our stay. The owners, Tom and Judi, were very friendly and helpful in pointing us to the town's best activities.

About the neighbourhood
Pedasi is at the center of everything to do and see in the Azuero Peninsula. With all the folklore that is centered in this area, you'll have a hard time arriving when there isn't some kind of folkloric fiesta taking place. Fishing here is wonderful all year round. Whale watching in August through October is a real treat and local boat captains can get you 'up close and personal' with more whales than you can count. A little further to the South and the turtle hatching can be seen (usually requires a night boat trip). Playa Venao, the world famous surfing beach is just a half hour drive from Casa Loma. Pedasi boasts four great beaches all within a few minute drive (we routinely walk in a half hour or less). Restaurants and bars are plentiful, including our fast casual restaurant in the Pedasi Sports Club. I'd especially advise you to try the local fondas for inexpensive and delicious lunches. And, don't forget to stop in at Smiley's on Tuesday or Friday night for live rock and roll by our own pick up band. Lots of fun. And for a really special treat, stop by Campos Eleysios, the oldest bar in Pedasi (and the mini twin of the oldest bar in Key West Florida, The Green Parrot) and say hola to Yadira who serves the coldest beer in the world!

How to get there
From Tocumen airport the least expensive way to get to Pedasi, and a trip that will allow you to see and feel a lot of what Panama has to offer, is to take the large busses that run from the Albrook Bus Terminal (located next door to the large Albrook Mall) to Las Tablas. Just follow these steps. Language will not be a problem. When you exit Immigration in the Tocumen airport, you'll be stopped by multiple taxi operators. Pick one. The price is the same, and should run you $35 for a taxi to Albrook. Ask for the Terminal de Bus at Albrook. Once at Albrook, enter the main portal. Its open air but has a large entrance which leads to many shops and kisoks. On the back wall, you'll find many small windowed sales kiosks with names of towns displayed over them. Look for the Las Tablas sales window. It is to the right as you enter the main entrance. Once there, purchase a ticket for the bus trip. It will cost a little over $10. The ticket you purchase will be for the next bus out to Las Tablas. Just ask 'Donde' and they'll point you to the waiting area. Inside the waiting area are several turnstiles that are only operated by a special card which you can purchase for a few dollars at several kiosks around the terminal. Get one. You'll use it for entrance to the bathrooms as well as to pass the turnstile to get to the bus. And, if you choose, you can use the same card for entrance to the new subway and on the metro busses in Panama City. As soon as they will allow, enter the platform and as for directions for the bus to Las Tablas. It should be marked on the sign above the bus windshield. The busses leave approximately on the hour, but sometimes leave early if full. The trip takes about 5 hours, punctuated by a potty and refreshment stop about midway. Food at these large fondas is good and inexpensive. Try it. When you arrive in Las Tablas, you can either take a taxi for the remaining 40 minutes to Pedasi ($about 20 to $25) or walk into town to catch a small bus (typically 15 passenger vans). If you arrive in the evening or if you are carrying a lot of luggage, its' best to take the taxi as the walk is close to a mile and the buses don't run very frequently after the end of workday rush is over.
