Marinella di Selinunte, Castelvetrano, Province of Trapani, Sicily
Between the country and the sea, archeaological remains and nature reserves, the area of Castelvetrano/Selinunte is certainly one of the most attractive in the whole of Sicily. Bang in the middle of this splendid territory stands villa Selinunte, a lovely, recently-built Mediterranean style house. The villa is located right in front of the sea, the sandy beach being just 200 meters from the house. The famous archaeological park of Selinunte (the largest in Europa) and the small village of Marinella di Selinunte with its restaurants, bars and shops are just 600 meters from the villa. The outdoor space is made up of two beautiful, well-kept gardens, the front garden includes a covered parking space while the back garden is on the beach side. This part of the property is particulary pleasant and includes a large, covered barbecue space wh... Read more

About the neighbourhood
Selinunte is the hugest archaeological park of Europe (270 h). Famous in the whole world, Selinunte is the most important archaeological site of the Mediterranean where it is possible to gather the most information's and materials about the meeting between two cultures: Greeks and Phoenicians. Today, inside the unique atmosphere of the archaeological park, are preserved huge rests of eight temples. Its wonderful Metopes make up a part of the most magnificent collection of the regional museum of Palermo. Today the economy of Marinella di Selinunte is based on the traditional fishing activity. Many fishers of the area still keep alive this activity, selling the famous sardine of Selinunte also through popular festivals. But the main resource is given by the tourist sector.
