Gorgeous property!
Stayed here with my family and we loved it. The property is stunning and the views are amazing. The games room was our favourite. Highly recommended.

Another fab stay
Had a lovely five days for May half term with our five grandchildren . This is our third visit to the cottage. Very spacious and the kiddies loved the pool room which they use as their den. Very well equipped and a lovely area. Calves came to view us over the wall in the evening which was lovely. Highly recommended

Beautiful house, glaring problems, owners don't respect privacy.
Firstly, this house is beautiful. The views are spectacular, I'm not taking anything away from that. The house is done to a high spec on first appearance. We have had a lovely family holiday. However, there are some key issues I'm not happy about at all. Fixtures and fittings are problematic. Taps are wobbly, the sink in the bathroom is loose. The house is ill equiped with things like bin bags and normal household stuff. I'd forego the fancy chocolate and biscuits if they provided the bare necessities so we didn't have to buy them in. Other houses provide! The duvet cover buttons have at some point fallen off so my duvet kept coming out of its cover, flys are a huge problem. They should provide fly paper, the fly swatter disintegrated. Half a snooker cue is missing (the wrong half). There are no batteries in the TV remote. There's a surfeit of frying pans but lacking in other basic kitchen equipment. Light bulbs are out with none to replace them. We ran out of toilet roll and had to buy our own, which would be fine if we weren't in a high priced property such as this, other houses have always provided. As I've said, given the price, high standards are expected. The thing that has incensed me, the reason I've put 3 stars instead of 4, is that despite the fact they told us not to arrive before 5pm and that we had to leave before 9am on Saturday (! Totally unreasonable), at 8:45am on our last full day in the house, men started traipsing around mowing and weedkilling. It is an absolute invasion of privacy, we were all trying to enjoying the garden and men just appeared, wandering around us. I am absolutely furious about this, especially as we have to leave so early tomorrow. We have paid A LOT of money for our privacy. So the fact this has happened on our last day basically means that in this property your privacy is never guaranteed. The owners have a lot to learn. Hopefully they learn and improve because this place could be perfect.

Perfect cottage
Had a lovely stay in this cottage , our second time here and enjoyed it just as much. We had our five grandchildren with us who loved it. Perfect for families with the games room and plenty of room for everyone. Beautiful views and very peaceful. We will hopefully return next year.

Excellent venue, lovely rooms with plenty of personal space.
We wanted a cottage that our family could meet up in during this very strange time and boy did this exceed our expectation. What a lovely cottage, well equipped with plenty of space with views across the fields and hills that were stunning to wake up to. It had everything we could have wanted and made our stay even better than we could have hoped for. Great company, great venue, great time had by all .

Beautiful cottage
Wow! This house is amazing! Not only the views but the service we received also has been fantastic! There is a large garden at the front which was perfect for our little boy and dogs to play out, however just be careful if the dogs are not trained as they can access the road from the garden. The large room at the back of the cottage with the pool room was great for relaxing on an evening and as the weather was abit rubbish we got to try out the wood burner which made the place very cosy! This cottage has a very homely feel about it we will definitely be returning!

Exceptional House.
Mile End East was a really great house .We were 3 generations and it catered for us all . The area was beautiful .Our only negative was the weather. Leyburn was a great little town but it flooded dramatically during our stay. I would highly recommend Mile End East .

Half Term Break
Just returned from Mile House East, where we stayed for 4 nights. The house is stunning and is set in a quiet village with an abundance of walks around the local area. The house is really well equipped with everything you could possibly need! We particularly liked the room over the barn with a snooker table and a great choice of board games and DVD’s to watch. Leyburn is a 10 minute drive away and the local pub just 2mins drive down the road to Carlton. We would recommend the walk from Bolton Castle to Aysgarth Fallls which takes in some stunning views of the local area. We stayed as 2 families with a pet dog and had a thoroughly enjoyable break.

About the neighbourhood
Amenities The nearby market town of Leyburn has fantastic local produce as well as a a very reasonable Co-op, various boutiques, and a weekly farmers’ market. Leyburn also has its own auction house, its own steam railway, its own pottery factory, its own chocolate factory all of which are open to the public. An excellent playground in Leyburn and a decent public swimming pool in Bedale helps keep the kids entertained whilst Mum and Dad catch a rest. There are a number of excellent family-friendly restaurants within half an hours drive. We can particularly recommend the following:- www.thebluelion.co.uk www.whiteswanhotel.co.uk www.wensleydaleheifer.co.uk www.forestersarms-carlton.co.uk The hamlet of Melmerby itself is also worth spending time in. It is surrounded by rich meadows and pastureland that reach down to the banks of the RiverCover, a stone's throw from Mille House East, and where many a happy afternoon has been spent paddling in the river/skimming stones. Nearby Aysgarth Falls and Redmire Falls provide well marked and easy walking with good amenities and tourist information. Above Aysgarth Falls sits Castle Bolton, one time prison to Mary, Queen of Scots. Move further North, beyond Wensleydale, and you find dramatic Swaledale with historic Richmond at its head. In neighbouring Wensleydale there's Semer Water, a peaceful lake surrounded by stunning hills. Hawes in the west of the dale is another picturesque market town with lots to see and do. There are OS maps and walking guides in the house to be used at your leisure.
