About the neighbourhood
Upper Denby is a beautiful village to explore with it's wonderful stone cottages, cottage gardens, local public house, historic church and listed tythe barn which is of great historical importance. Nearby is the small town of Holmfirth with its quaint shops and small independent cinema and theatre. Holmfirth is also the home of Bamforths, producers of the famous saucy postcards. Homfirth was also used as the location for the television programme 'Last Of The Summer Wine'. Visitors can see Norah Batty's house which featured in the series and visit the museum dedicated to the programme. Holmfirth holds an annual 'festival of folk' in May with many artists preforming from around England. There are often continental markets held on the streets.
