My family stayed here for 8 wonderful days! The ocean right In your backyard is incredible! This home has everything you need for a relaxing vaca. Is a bit away from everything, which is what we were looking for. but also has coffee shops right down the street which is great. As some Other reviews touched on, there are some homeless (or just island living) about on your way to the house but the neighborhood is cute and the house is great! You won’t be unhappy if you stay here!

Just an INCREDIBLE vacation. The only thing better than the property was Jackie, the host. She was very accessible and right there whenever we needed something. Have to say, the beach in Makaha was better than Waikiki! Thank you for everything Jackie!

This house is in an amazing location in the quiet town of Makaha. The beach/ocean is your backyard!!! The front yard is a tropical paradise with a hammock and beautiful flora. The living spaces have exactly what you need. There's even a small beach within a 5 minute walk from the house that's guaranteed to have sea turtles playing in the water. Our family had a blast!!! Jackie was very responsive to any inquiries. We are thankful that she opened up her home to us! Would definitely come back again!

Wonderful spot and responsive and helpful owner. (Dryer didn’t work, but owner dealt with it asap and brought in a new one!) Early posts mentioned homeless nearby but I believe those have been moved recently toward Waianae. This is a drier part of the island so there is a number of encampments down the road. However, this area is also less “touristy”. So many benefits to this place. Amazing sunsets and beautiful moon lit beach. Friendly locals. Geckos and lizards in the front yard with a nice hammock. My kids swam with turtles and snorkeled on the reef off the beach, boogie boarded and body surfed, fished, and even played baseball and volleyball in the backyard. The surf and water immediately out back is not for little ones though. Wasn’t a problem for us as my kids are a little older and good swimmers. A vacation that my family will never forget. A real blessing.

I love to be near the water for my birthday, and it just doesn't get better than this. The pictures for this listing don't do it justice. The ocean is literally the backdrop of Jackie's home. Whether eating on the patio in the back or gazing from the deck just outside of the master bedroom, the view of the majestic ocean was ever present. What's more.....there was hardly anyone around so the area is nicely secluded. To swim, one needs only to walk a little ways to a larger beach area. The house itself is great for a group and accommodated us nicely with 3 bedrooms and separate baths. Jackie was very responsive and I appreciated her heart to help when we had an issue/question. I have been to Hawaii several times, and this was the best location and experience, hands down. You will need a car, as it is a good drive from the airport and other attractions. But you will find the essentials you need close by in local establishments. God willing, I will be back again!

The house was perfect. It was quite with the loudest noise being the waves breaking like 50 yards from the bedrooms. The sunsets are UNBELIEVABLE and we saw tons of turtles swimming right behind the house. You can't really swim directly behind the properly due to the coral and waves, but it was a 3 min walk down the beach to Makaha beach; which was sandy, secluded and absolutely perfect. If you want hustle and bustle stay at Waikiki beach; if you want peace, family time and some real relaxation; this is your place. No tourist traps around. We called the property owner (Jackie) a few times and to extend our stay; and she was awesome, accommodating and fair. This house was a true winner for us; and if you are looking to relax and have zero stress; this house should be just about perfect.

My family and I loved our stay here at this lovely property. We are from San Diego so this awesome home in this neighborhood reminded us of a mixture of OB and el cajon. Every bit of this home would have been truly loved if there weren't so many dead cockroaches when we had arrived to the home late into the night because our flight and ride took us a little longer to get through to this side of town. Also, on my son's bday, a man came to the home and informed us that he was scheduled to spray down our home. I was not around when this conversation was discussed so the gentleman went ahead and continued with his job but then he started to literally spray around the whole house and around our kids, places where there is usual foot traffic. I honestly was not happy about it, whatever chemicals he was spraying, didnt sit well with me, especially the timing was just not right. There was no cummication about this invasion. However, the upstairs bedroom, deck, beach, tide pools, open field of grass for plenty of outdoor entertaining, yoga setting, best backyard for star gazing, made up for it. We had a wonderful family vacation, luckily for us, our rental car had unlimited miles because you should expect to drive alot, this side of town doesn't have a whole lot going on.
