Achill Shore View lies in a haven of tranquility - on a private road off the Atlantic Drive which is part of the wild Atlantic way with all the amenities for an adventurous, exciting, and entertaining holiday very close by. On entering this delightful architect-designed home you will be wowed by its wonderful feeling of spaciousness with cathedral ceilings and clever open-plan layout. This unique house boasts spectacular views on all sides and has a way of lulling people into deep relaxation. Its main living areas of kitchen, dining room and lounge are open-plan. The kitchen is fully equipped with a large double sink, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, plenty of storage and a semi-professional Rangemaster cooker with seven gas rings, a grill and two electric ovens, a nespresso and ground coffee makers. A large utility area with a separate washing machine and dryer and a utility sink are just off the kitchen. Both dining room and lounge have double height ceilings, wrap-around windows and patio doors onto the large natural stone patio area with 2 large picnic tables. There are two double rooms (one with super king size bed) and two twin rooms on the ground floor with the master bedroom having an en-suite walk-in shower room. The ground floor bathroom has an electric power shower and Jacuzzi bath. Upstairs is another bathroom with an insulated deep Japanese soaking bath - large enough for two - and is ideal for salt or seaweed soaks as the water maintains its temperature for a long time. The large bright attic room can be used for additional living or sleeping space and has a futon sofa and three single beds. Sitting on approx 1.5 acres with lawn to the front and east side of the property, the south facing garden has been preserved as wild bog land. Natural bog land plants, animals and birds frequent this wild garden - hares, nesting skylarks, a pair of pheasants that return annually, a local heron and a kite. There is also a large Labyrinth and a "Faerie Ring" cut out of the bog land garden. Two PETS ARE ALLOWED at Achill Shore View, provided they are properly house-trained. To the west of the garden adjacent to the garage is a large secure dog run with a kennel. This dog run is visible from the kitchen, dining room and lounge. Pets are welcome indoors in the common areas but MOST DEFINITELY NOT in bedrooms. The area is agricultural and sheep and cattle roam freely beyond the gate. Achill Shore View is situated only 200 meters from the shore and at low tide the shallows offer opportunities for collecting mussels, razor fish and periwinkles or harvesting the local seaweed for cooking or bathing. This shore area is more suited to paddling and walking than swimming due to strong tidal currents. Seals can often be seen swimming in the currents. Just 2 kilometers away along the Atlantic Drive is the beautiful Achill Secret Garden (open to the public) and a short distance further is a castle of Granuaile, the infamous Pirate Queen. Beyond this again are two delightful small harbours where boats can be organised for trips to Achill Beg, (a smaller Island that is definitely worth a visit) and Clare Island. This whole seascape is part of the spectacular Atlantic Drive. Towards the end of this loop which offers one extraordinary vista after another is the Minaun Drive. This steep climb by bicycle, car or on foot is not to be missed as it is the only place on the island where you have a birds eye view of the entire landscape from Clew Bay to the mountains of North Mayo. Every room of this property boasts impressive views of sea and mountains - a deeply relaxing and very enjoyable place to be. Wonderful vacation home!
This five bedroom, three bath home was perfect for our family. We actually stayed a month, in July and August of 2023. The communication with the owner and contact with the manager and cleaner were all excellent. Achill Island had its own charms, we enjoyed hiking, dining out, the beaches and the most spectacular views of the sound right from our dining room or the patio. Our grandchildren were smitten with the neighboring donkeys and sheep. I’d love to stay at Achill Shore View again!

AMAZING
Spent a fantastic week here, provided with all necessary supplies, very helpful information provided, great contact with owners, manager always available for any questions, had relatives join us who also praised it highly, loved visit by local sheep and wild hare, brilliant view of donkeys down at sea shore, really accessible to local pubs etc. good moth collection. Looking forward to going again in 2034. One suggestion, it would be helpful if signs were put on doors downstairs I,E bathroom and bedrooms , maybe 1,2,3,4 useful for multiple occupants.

What a wonderful escape!
We had the most amazing girs weekend in this lovely home. Spotless, cozy and with the most amazing view we felt we had truly escaped the daily grind in the wonderful west. We had the option of a very short drive to shops, restraunts and pubs but loved the fact we could stay in and cook a meal in the lovely kitchen and watch movies from the collection of dvd's (with the odd glass of wine or two) and feel we were fantastically remote from the world. The perfect base to explore Achill from. You may even meet a friendly donkey or two if you take a stroll around :)

Lovely views and great location
Very spacious, bright, comfortable house in a great location. It feels wonderfully remote and private, yet just a short drive or cycle to shops and restaurants. We enjoyed the wildlife that came to visit (hares) and the sheep, and we loved the wild flowers growing along the laneways and roads nearby and all over Achill. Because of the pandemic, restaurants were closed but we enjoyed the most delicious fish and chips from The Diner in Bunacurry, as recommended by Vincent. Ted's food truck up the road in Cashel has also adapted well to the times and is serving very imaginative fare. Great to be able to get good coffee during a long hike or bike ride. In the past we have enjoyed the seafood chowder at the Achill Island hotel and at Ted's. This year it was available at the Mulranney Park hotel, on the Greenway. Achill is perfect for cycling, ebiking and hiking, and the signage and greenways are improving and being extended all the time. This year we found a new greenway in Saula. And the views from Minnaun heights are not to be missed - head towards the radio tower/pylon and you will find it.

Great place to stay
We were greeted by Vincent who was very friendly and helpful. Was the perfect spot for our family gathering with a large enclosed space for the dog and kiddies to run around and have fun. Would highly recommend.

Amazing
We visited as a group of friends and could not believe our stroke of luck finding Achillshore View firstly and that it was available for the days we wanted it. Amazing house, well thought out, and anything you needed was there. Lovely welcome pack of goodies to start us off. Close to the village of Achill Sound and a great location for touring the Island and also the Great Western Greenway. The only low was that we had to leave and head back home when our holiday was over. Great living space and comfy beds. The play room in the garage was great for the rainy days. Would love to come back and stay again.

Home away from home in stunnig location!
This is our 6th time in Achill and up until now we have struggled to find comfortable modern accommodation (I'm including a hotel in that statement!) but not this time. This time we struck gold! This house is modern, clean, comfortable, has everything you would ever ever dream of needing as well as being in a beautiful location overlooking the shore and mountains.Theres a special chair in the dining area which has the best view and perfect for curling up with a book! I love the way every switch and socket was labelled so there was no guessing which switch turned on which light etc. The house is very spacious, we were a party of 9 adults, 3 kids, 2 babies and 2 doggies! We had enough space for all and didnt feel in each others pockets. The attic room is fab and i would have loved to stay in it myself but it was perfectly suited to my sister and family with the 4 beds and their own bathroom. The welcome pack was a lovely touch and Vincent gave us a lovely welcome too. We were dissapointed to have to cut our trip short due to a family funeral but we will definitely be back again.

Getting around
you need a car to get around the island as bus services are sporadic and do not cover much of the island. However, there are a number of private minibuses on the island for hire and the pubs and restaurants have their contact numbers. Achill is very popular with cyclists, especially since the Mayo Cycle Hub was developed with three looped routes. The Great Western Greenway, between Achill and Westport, is the longest off-road cycle and walking track in Ireland and it was officially opened on 29th July 2011. You can hire bikes from Achill Bikes in Dooagh all year round, and from Costcutters in Keel during June, July and August.
