Unfortunately only stayed for two nights. Excellent location. Warm welcome from the owners who are just next door if needed. Beautiful big bed with lovely linen. Great shower with piping hot water. Cottage has wall heaters which only took minutes to warm up. All set in a beautiful garden & couple of minutes walk down to waters edge. Loved it!

A charming Cottage set within a few minutes walk to Rutland water.Cottage very clean and cozy with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The owners cannot do enough to make you feel at home. The Victorian walled garden and its history is a bonus. The location is handy for many of the local attractions and also the many wonderful pubs for meals. We most certainly would recommend the Walled Garden as a place to stay.

Beautiful & peaceful. Well presented accommodation with a warm welcome from the hosts. Available if you have any queries, but never intrusive. The gardens are beautiful and the edge of Rutland Water a very short walk away. So many wonderful places within a short distace to visit or eat out. Would be for ever listing them all but a couple of highlights Barnsdale Gardens, did some Christmas shopping, Hambletons Bakery, ate too much, but after all that loads of places to walk it off. Will be looking to come back soon.

We stayed at the Walled Garden B&B because we wanted to get away from it all and we couldn't have picked a better place! We loved the privacy of the little cottage and the view across the garden. The cottage was comfy, clean and fresh. We had a lovely welcome and Charlotte left us some delicious home made raspberry and white chocolate muffins when we first arrived which we ate while we drank tea at the outdoor table. We were lucky with the weather at least for the first night; the second night it rained but we were very cosy in the cottage. My husband and I liked being left to our own devices - we sat in the cottage and read magazines (which we never do at home!) and felt completely undisturbed. We didn't have to think about providing breakfast because Charlotte had thought of that - fresh chunky bread and home made jam that was even grown in the garden! We ate out at the Grainstore Brewery which was rustic and charming but here was a huge choice of places - we're definitely coming back in August for a wedding at Barnsdale Lodge.

About the neighbourhood
Rutland is England's smallest county; charming villages, market towns and plenty of history make the area a wonderful place to explore. Country walks and cycle tracks are on the doorstep, as is beautiful Rutland Water, which has two nature reserves and many bird hides for nature watching. The area is also a good place for water sports - sailing, seasonal night swimming, kayaks, an aqua park, wind surfing and more. Oakham, Uppingham and Stamford are a short distance away. They offer a broad range of high street and independent shops, plus restaurants, cafes and pubs for all tastes and budgets.
Getting around
Although there is plenty to see and do close by, you'll really need a car to get around.
