pleasant pacific retreat

The palapa is quite tranquil and that's including a few chickens announcing the day. Our host provided excellent directions accessing the property. He also is versed in the names of a variety of birds.

Mazunte has an international feel due to the diversity of the community. Besides the local Mexicans, there are many from Europe and both North and South America who have settled here. There are fresh food stores specializing in fruits, vegetables, the days' catch [everything from tuna, red snapper, dorado, pargo, even locally caught lobster.] If you are fortunate enough to be here for them, there are special events including an annual jazz festival [mid November] and other festivals. [New Years is a treat.] Many restaurants (some fine dining) are very close by, beaches, surfing, yoga, laundry, Mexican Center for the Sea Turtle, 'swim with the turtles' and mangrove lagoon boat trips (whale watching in season), white water rafting, water hikes and bird watching trips along the Copalito ...
